BE EPICER @ CTE
At Cherokee Trail we focus on six traits, teaching and fostering them in our classrooms and school-wide in order to create learners who are strong academically and socially.
They are:
ENTHUSIASM * PERSEVERANCE * INTEGRITY * COURAGE * EMPATHY * RESPECT
Read more on the EPICER page!
In September we will be focusing on ENTHUSIASM. Here are the student indicators:
* I show a positive attitude at all times
* I am eager to learn
* I show active engagement throughout my day
AT HOME: Ask your student "If you practiced showing enthusiasm every day, how do you think that would change your experience at school?"

ACCESS FLYERS IN PEACHJAR
FROM THE AP
Fall seems to be in the air, and hopefully this nice weather is here to stay for a bit! As I visited classrooms over the last week, students were settling in and working hard on learning! At recess, kids were enjoying the new playground equipment and having a lot of fun running around and playing in the good weather. It is simply good to see kids being kids at play and having fun learning. Last week, I had the opportunity to join our 6th graders at Outdoor Ed. My favorite activity was the giant swing, where students took risks and encouraged each other to challenge themselves. It is amazing to see how students come together and care about each other when given the opportunity!
Over the last couple of weeks, we have asked a lot of our families to keep our kids safe. Thank you for your help, support, and understanding in this. We'd ask that you continue to partner with us as we continually keep student safety #1!
THE PRINCIPAL CHRONICLES
The Principal Chronicles continue ...
As I write this, it is our Fun Run day. All of our students are dressed up to run to raise money for our school. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and the money this year will go to continuing to upgrade our playground. Last year, we started our upgrade by adding a new slide, a new climbing structure, and a new merry-go-round. The merry-go-round took a little bit to get used to but now the kids have figured it out, they really enjoy it. A few families asked why we got rid of the monkey bars. The answer is pretty simple: every single year we have had a student(s) break their arms falling off them. We never want our students to get hurt, so we wanted to put something in to keep them safe and still be able to have fun. Moving forward, we will continue to try and add pieces or upgrade existing pieces. Overall, we really want our students to have fun and play at recess. We always appreciate how much our community takes care of us.
On the home front, we are in the midst of rushing a sorority at CSU. My daughter spent the weekend going from house to house, meeting people, and trying to figure out who she wants to hang out with for the next four years. It is a fairly interesting process. Day one was going to all eight sororities on campus and meeting all of the girls of the houses. From there, you had to pick your top choices and see if those houses put you as their top choice. After that, you go and tour the house, hear about their philanthropy, and the final step is that they offer you an official bid.
After touring all of the houses, my daughter picked five houses are her top choices. Unfortunately, only one house out of her top five picked her, and then another house that she didn't like at all. So apparently, it is all or nothing with this one house. She met with them yesterday, and as of this writing, I have not heard how things went. I do know that she wore her prom dress to the meeting, so I am pretty sure she feels it is really important. I just want her to be happy, so my fingers are crossed that things work out for her. It truly is never a dull moment in our house. Stay tuned.
That is it for this weeks episode, stay tuned for next week when the Principal Chronicles continues....
