Farewell & Best Wishes Melissa

After three incredible years, we are saying a heartfelt goodbye to Melissa, our amazing Office Administrator, as she begins an exciting new chapter with the Montfort Central Office team.

Melissa was with us from the very beginning—helping to open the school and playing an essential role in building the strong, welcoming community we are so proud of today. Her warm smile in the front office, her calm presence, and the many hats she wore so effortlessly made a lasting impact on staff, students, and families alike.

While we will miss her dearly, we are so happy for her as she moves into this next phase of her journey. We send her our prayers, blessings, and gratitude for all she has given to our school. Her last day will be January 16th.

Once an Eagle, always an Eagle.

You will be missed, Melissa.

Parking

Reminder: The City of Red Deer placed new signs in front of our school. The section out front of our main doors has now been split into three sections. As you pull up, the first section is a City Bus lane with no public parking. The second section is RDCRS specialized bus lane with no public parking between the hours of 8-9am and 2:30-3:30pm. The third section is student drop and go with where drivers must remain in their vehicles. The North Parking Lot, located closest to the Foundations and Blended Program entrance, is designated for guest and parent parking. Some staff will also be required to park in this lot. The South East lot, near the Grade 9 doors, is reserved for staff parking and the bus roundabout—parents are asked not to park in this area. Finally, we ask all families to be mindful of our neighbors by avoiding parking in front of houses or in nearby alleys, as this creates safety concerns. This is especially important on game nights when we have an abundance of visitors parking near the school.

Winter Sports Unit:

This week in the gymnasium, our students kicked off our Winter Sports units, bringing lots of energy and enthusiasm into PE classes! Students began engaging in skating activities, developing balance, coordination, and confidence while learning safe practices on the ice.

As we continue with our winter programming, we would appreciate families’ support. Due to a limited supply of school-owned helmets, skates, and snowshoes, students are encouraged to bring their own equipment to school whenever possible. Please note that sticks or large equipment cannot be transported on school buses, so alternate arrangements will be needed if this equipment is required after school.

We will, of course, do our best to share and lend the equipment we have available to ensure all students at St. Lorenzo are able to participate safely and meaningfully.

Thank you for your continued support in helping make our PE program active, inclusive, and successful!

Developmental Basketball:

Looking ahead to Friday, January 16 we are excited to begin our Developmental Basketball Program.

Please see the parent letter attached below for more information.

General Athletics Reminders:

If your child is interested in playing any team sports this year, please fill out the Athletic Informed Consent form which can be found on RYCOR. To access RYCOR, please log into your PowerSchool account and click on fees and forms. Once in, click on your childs name and the forms will appear. Students will not be able to tryout until this form has been submitted. Please click here for step by step instructions on how to access and fill out this form.

Notre Dame Presents Sister Act

Notre Dame is holding our annual Musical Production February 5-7

General Info:

Performances are held at the Red Deer Memorial Centre.

When disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won't be found: a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood.

Filled with powerful gospel music, outrageous dancing and a truly moving story, Sister Act will leave audiences breathless. The cast is chock full of amazing roles for women of all ages, making this a perfect choice for high schools and community theatres. A sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, Sister Act is reason to REJOICE!

There is some strong language as well as some implied violence (fake guns and a loud drum to simulate a gunshot). There is also a scene that takes place at a pool hall where they can be assumed to be drinking and smoking, but none of this happens on stage.

General seating tickets ARE AVAILABLE NOW for shows on Thurs. Feb. 5 - Sat. Feb. 7 @ 7pm, along with public matinees on Sat. Feb 7 @ 1pm.
