Renaissance Faire

Hear ye, Hear ye -- the 2025 GSSV Renaissance Faire was a "merry old tyme for all!" Seniors traveled back in time to enjoy the science, games, arts, and entertainment of medieval culture through hands-on, immersive activities -- and, wow, did they dress the part too!

The Alberta seniors pulled off an amazing event for the Keysville seniors despite all the weather closures for the semester -- including one day the week of the Faire. It was a great day of learning, fellowship, and fun!

Senior Symposium

In mid-March, our seniors presented the findings from their year-and-a-half long research experiments, and they did a fantastic job in our new format of a summary presentation of their experiment and then poster conferences. Projects included studies on the dangers of Red 40, the impact of grass species on insects in Virginia, how best to manufacture ecobricks, the effect of bacteria growth in response to paraben concentration, the eutrophication on dissolved oxygen in pond water, and how to use the overpopulous Scyphozoa jellyfish as fertilizer for plants. Groups also worked with superconductors, E. coli, microplastics, robots, and much more. Their hard work was showcased and we are very proud of their accomplishments throughout this research process.

Special thanks to all the parents, school personnel, board members, and superintendents for your support at this event.

Gatsby Gala 2025

"I'm p-paralyzed with happiness."

The Friday before spring break, the juniors held their annual Gatsby Gala. The Keysville juniors hosted the Alberta juniors at this special event, where they enjoyed interactive learning activities centered on the novel and various aspects of the Roaring '20s. Students also learned how to do the fox-trot and the Charleston, and they enjoyed mocktails while learning the history of prohibition and the speakeasy. Live jazz music filled the ballroom throughout the morning from our student "house band," and everyone looked spectacular in their 1920s-inspired dress.

Junior Symposium

Our junior symposiums were a great success. Our juniors have worked hard this semester to refine their research projects and presented their proposals in late April. We are looking forward to seeing these proposals come to life over the next year.

GSSV Seniors Take on Washington, D.C.

Our seniors (and chaperones) had the absolute best time in D.C. this year. Students toured either the African American History Museum or the United States Holocaust Museum, as well as other museums and monuments of their choice along The National Mall. We also enjoyed a fun trip to the Immersive Gamebox -- a new event that will likely become a tradition. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, and we all had the best time, lots of laughs, and made many memories.
