Music Offerings Music Offerings

Beginner Band

Next year is THE YEAR to join the 6th grade Panther band! We are very excited about our instrumental music program and eagerly look forward to meeting young artists who will join this year’s class of talented musicians. Many see band as a class where students learn to play an instrument, but it is much more than that! It also provides rather profound environmental influences, which will help foster success in all aspects of education, not just band. "Excellence Through Music" is our motto. We hold to the belief that the study of music improves social skills, communication skills, self-concepts, cooperative talents and a creative mind. This is a YEAR long course!

Strings

Our 6th grade orchestra class is geared toward the true beginner. This group performs in 4-6 concerts each school year including the Halloween Costume Concert, Holiday Concert, "Music in Our Schools Month" Concert, and Spring "Senior Send Off" Concert. The 6th grade orchestra also performs for nationally recognized clinicians at the Carowinds Music Festival each year. Join our award winning orchestra for these added benefits: Problem Solving, Teamwork, Self-Expression, Physical Coordination, Memory Skills, Self Confidence, Concentration, and Poise. *Students have the opportunity to learn to play bass, cello, viola, or violin. This is a YEAR long course!

Chorus

If you enjoy music and singing, join our Chorus! The major emphasis of this semester course is on singing activities and vocal production. This class provides opportunities for growth in the understanding of musical elements such as rhythm, melody, form, harmony, dynamics, expression, timbre, articulation, and style. Choral students will also have opportunities to participate in performances throughout the year.
