What's Happening This Week:

  • ISASP Testing!
    • Tuesday through Thursday grades 9-11 (April 2-5)
    • Testing will start at 8:15 a.m. each day with Advisory teacher
    • Tues - Thurs. Seniors should arrive for 1st period beginning at 10:15 a.m. (unless in a college class, come at your regular time)
    • Friday 10th grade only, will take Science portion in their regular Science class

  • What do students need to do to be ready?
    • Be at school!
    • Bring a fully charged Chromebook to school
    • Sleep and eat well

  • Why is it important to do your best but not stress?
    • The ISASP informs students, families, educators and the state, on how Iowa students are performing on the Iowa Core Standards. It is intended to provide helpful information on areas where students are performing well and where they may need additional support.
    • Think of it as an opportunity to show how students are doing mastering core standards and how the school is doing teaching those standards.

Friendly Reminder:

  • GCCSD issues a Chromebook to every GCHS student
  • That device alone is what should be used by students while at school
  • Here is Board Policy regarding this issue

Families - We Need Your Help!

  • Anytime a student is not in class (unless a school activity) it counts toward their absenteeism rate.
  • The state deems chronic absenteeism as missing 10% or more of school (excused by a parent or not!)
  • Unless your child is SICK or there is a REAL NEED for them to be gone, please do not excuse your child. Encourage your student to be and stay in class.
  • We realize there are extenuating circumstances when absences are necessary, but we need you to know that attendance matters! We cannot do our job unless students are in class.
  • If you would like to know your child's absenteeism rate, please call the office 515-386-2188
