Green Sea Floyds Elementary Vision Green Sea Floyds Elementary Vision

Green Sea Floyds Elementary is committed to the service of all students. We aspire to empower students to achieve greatness by providing meaningful learning experiences and fostering a family atmosphere that supports the physical, social, and emotional well-being of all students.

First Week Reflections at GSFE First Week Reflections at GSFE

The first week of school at Green Sea Floyds Elementary was filled with positive energy, teamwork, and a strong sense of community. From the moment students arrived, smiles and warm greetings set the tone for a great start. Teachers and staff worked together to create a welcoming environment where every student felt supported and valued.

In classrooms, the focus was on building connections. Through team-building activities, students learned the importance of working together, showing kindness, and helping one another. These first steps are helping lay the foundation for a year rooted in greatness—in both learning and character.

One of the week’s most exciting moments was the debut of brand-new playground equipment, provided by Horry County Schools. The upgraded space quickly became a favorite spot, giving students more ways to stay active, play, and enjoy time with friends.

Throughout the week, staff and students showed what it means to be part of the Green Sea Floyds family—one built on service, respect, and care for one another. As the year begins, the school is focused not only on academic success but also on helping each student grow into their best self.

We kicked off the year strong and are excited for what’s to come at Green Sea Floyds Elementary.

Rise with Reading Challenge Rise with Reading Challenge

Reading with your child each day builds strong readers—and strong relationships. Just 15 minutes a day can make a big difference in vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence.

This year, students will track the number of pages read at home. Families are encouraged to read together and record progress. Whether it’s a bedtime story, a chapter after dinner, or a few pages in the car—every page counts!

📖 Which class will read the most pages?
We’re kicking off a friendly school-wide challenge to see which class can read the most. Let’s make it fun and show how strong our reading community really is!

🌟 Coming Next Week: Rise with Reading Superintendent’s Challenge
We’re excited to announce that next week we’ll launch the Rise with Reading Superintendent’s Reading Challenge! Students will have the chance to represent Green Sea Floyds Elementary in a reading challenge focused on growth, goals, and a love for books.

💬 What Questions Can You Ask While You Read?

Asking questions during reading helps build understanding. Try asking:

  • “What do you think will happen next?”

  • “Why do you think the character did that?”

  • “What was your favorite part?”

  • “Can you retell the story in your own words?”

Reading is more than a school skill—it’s a life skill. Thank you for being a part of your child’s reading journey. Together, we’re building greatness through a shared love of reading.
