Dear CJHS Community,
We had a busy week at CJHS! I am consistently proud of how hard your children work at all they do. At our UIL academic meet I was watching our kids play basketball during a lull in events. How fun it must be to have grown up together and get to experience these events together. Sometimes living in a small town seems to be so isolating, boring, and lacking of things to do...however, it there are many BEAUTIFUL things about growing up in a small town. Our "village" is amazing!! I'm so honored to be a part of it! Below are some important events coming up!!
All Region Band Tryouts
- Our band attended all region band tryouts in Pampa on Tuesday. Two of our students qualified for Concert band! Broden Henry made 1st band 3rd chair and Gentry Keys made 1st chair 2nd band! Congratulations!
District Academic UIL
- Our academic competition was a success! Our students performed well
- We ended up in a close 3rd place behind Canadian and Bushland.
- Thank you to Mrs. Leticia Garcia who is our UIL Coordinator. She spends countless hours preparing us for this event beginning in August. We are always the most organized school in attendance! Please thank her if you see her!

Behavior Trip
- Students who qualify for the Behavior Trip will receive a permission slip on Monday 12/9. These need to be returned no later than Thursday 12/12.
- To attend the behavior trip you must qualify in these ways:
- Have no more than 2 detentions or office referrals
- Have NOT attended ISS
- Have no more than 6 absences
- Have no missing work
- Be passing all of your classes
- Although I'm passing out permission slips on Monday, any additional office referrals, absences, missing work will be considered. Just turning in a permission form does not guarantee students will attend the event.
- We will leave at 8:15am on Tuesday 12/17 and return by 4:00pm. Students will have the option to request a school lunch, bring their own lunch or bring money for the concession stand.
Semester Tests
- Semester Tests will be Thursday 12/19 and Friday 12/20.
- Students who have 3 or fewer non school absences may be exempt from semester tests.
- Students who have 4 or more non school absences (excused OR unexcused) must take semester tests. For JH & HS this is per period. (For example...if you child has 3 absences for 1st - 6th period...they are exempt from those classes. However, if they have 4 absences in 7th and 8th, they must take semester tests in those classes)
- We will be notifying students which tests they must take by the end of this week.
- If your student is exempt by the end of this week...but misses more days next week, they may be required to take semester tests.
- Semester Test Schedule:
- Thursday 12/19
- 8:00 - 8:55: 4th period
- 9:00 - 9:55: 1st period
- 10:00 - 10:55: 2nd period
- 11:00 - 11:55: 3rd period
- Lunch is served from 12 - 12:30 if desired. Students can be picked up at 11:55 but busses won't run until 3:35. I highly encourage you to find a way for your child to be picked up or walk home by 11:55 or 12:30.
- Friday 12/20
- 8:00 - 8:55: 5th period
- 9:00 - 9:55: 6th period
- 10:00 - 10:55: 7th period
- 11:00 - 11:55: 8th period
- Lunch is served 12:00-12:30. Busses run at 12:30.

- Wear a Christmas hat/stocking cap, headband
- Permission Slips due!
Friday 12/13
- Bobcat Christmas (wear Bobcat Colors and make it Christmas-y!)
Saturday 12/14
- STUCO Winter Dance 7:00-10:30pm @CJHS Cafeteria
