Dear Pilot Families,

We had a great first week of school! It was amazing to how our returning Pilots have grown and greet Pilots new to our school. Thank you to all the families who were able to attend Back to School Night! Teachers shared that they had a fantastic turn out. The partnership between school and home is the building block for helping our students succeed.

In the next few weeks, we will be sharing more information about our school, our staff, and our year!

Stay tuned!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope this letter finds you and your family well. My name is Coach Rogers, and I am excited to be your child’s Physical Education (PE) teacher this year at Pauba Valley Elementary School. I look forward to an active and engaging year focused on movement, fitness, teamwork, and fun!

Our PE program is designed to help students develop lifelong healthy habits, improve their physical skills, and learn the importance of cooperation and sportsmanship. Throughout the year, students will participate in a wide range of activities, including fitness challenges, team sports, cooperative games, and skill-building exercises. To be successful in PE, students need to come prepared with a positive attitude, a willingness to try their best, and respect for both their peers and the learning environment. Consistent participation, proper athletic footwear, and an open mindset toward learning new skills are key. Most importantly, success in PE isn’t just about athletic ability—it’s about effort, teamwork, and personal growth.

If your child has any medical concerns or limitations that I should be aware of, please inform our health clerk, Kerry Aaron in the front office. Our goal is to ensure every student feels safe, included, and successful in our program. If your child needs to be excused from PE, please provide a note. A parent note will allow your child to be excused from PE for 3 days and if that time needs to be extended, a doctor's note, with a time frame to resume physical activity, needs to be submitted to our health clerk in the front office.

Thank you for your time and support in helping your child stay active and healthy. I’m looking forward to a great year full of movement, growth, and fun!

What is Average Daily Attendance (ADA)?

Dear Parent/Guardian,

We wanted to take a moment to explain an important term you may hear when we talk about school attendance — Average Daily Attendance (ADA).

ADA is the average number of students who attend school each day. It is calculated by taking the total number of days students are present and dividing it by the number of school days.

Why does ADA matter?
ADA is more than just a number — it plays a key role in how schools receive funding and resources. In many school districts, funding from the state is based in part on how many students attend school on a daily basis. That means when students are absent (even for excused reasons), it can affect the overall support our school receives.

We know that students may occasionally need to miss school due to illness or emergencies, and we appreciate you keeping your child home when they’re not feeling well. At the same time, we encourage families to make every effort to ensure regular, on-time attendance whenever possible. Every day in school truly makes a difference!

If you have questions about your child’s attendance or need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Thank you for partnering with us in your child’s education!
