Parent-Teacher Conferences
We are looking forward to welcoming you for Parent-Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, October 6th and Thursday, October 8th. Conferences on October 6th will take place after school from 2:30pm – 7:00 PM. On Thursday, October 8th we have an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 12:10pm and will follow their regular Thursday transportation plan unless their teachers are notified about an alternate plan in advance. Conferences on Thursday, October 8th will be held from 12:30 pm – 7:00 pm.
Conferences are a wonderful time to learn more about your child’s classroom experience, get updates on how he/she is doing at school academically and socially so far this year, see examples of your child’s work, get updates on their fall testing outcomes, and learn more about upcoming information. It is also a great time to ask any questions you have. Please use the link below to sign-up for a Parent-Teacher Conference with your child’s classroom teacher. We are hoping to see all of our families, so click on this link below and choose a time today! We look forward to sharing an update about how your child’s year has gotten started in his/her new classroom!

Have a great weekend!
End of Day Changes
This is an important reminder that when families have an upcoming change in their end of day routine (community ed class, grandparent picking up, etc) it is essential that teachers be notified in advance so they can plan for the change or add these changes to their individual plans or sub notes if they will be out.
For last minute changes (which includes any changes the teacher does not know about before the end of the prior school day) parents must call the front office to ensure the message has been received.
Late Arrivals in the Morning
Students arriving after the 7:40 bell will need to be signed in at the office by a parent or guardian. This is very important with our new secured entrance to ensure that all students get into the building safely. If you know in advance that your child will be late due to a pre-arranged appointment, please call the attendance line at 651-460-3105 or submit the late arrival on our attendance form prior to 7:00 am on the day of the late arrival.
Attendance is an important part of your child’s education. For more info about routines to support positive attendance habits, please see the attached document from Dakota County. Attendance Works
Please note that the curb along the front of the building is a “No Parking” zone so our buses can load and unload without obstruction. Parents who choose to drop-off and pick-up their children on the east side of the building are asked to park their cars in the parking lot and walk their children to and from the building. Your child’s safety is our main priority.

A Closer Look at Assessments
To support student success, the Farmington School District uses a variety of assessments during the year to monitor student learning and growth. Here is an overview of assessments your student may take this year.
FastBridge Universal Screener is a one-on-one or independent reading and math check-in. Students take these screeners three times a year. Results help teachers identify students who may need extra support or more challenging work. Screeners are an excellent way to measure student growth throughout the year.
Diagnostic assessments take a closer look and find student strengths and areas of need. Educators use the results to plan and adjust their lessons to better meet student needs.
UFLI Foundations Intervention Placement Test is used to identify individual strengths and needs for intervention using the UFLI Foundations program. Teachers in any grade may use this assessment to determine where in the program to start intervention and to identify gaps in skill development.
Capti ReadBasix is given to students identified in grades 4-9 at risk for reading difficulties. Capti ReadBasix has six subtests that assess reading foundational skills. and the results will help educators pinpoint areas for targeted instruction and support student growth.
State assessments show how well students are meeting Minnesota’s academic standards.
Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA) measure how well students are learning the state standards in reading (grades 3–5), math (grades 3–5), and science (grade 5). Results help the district and school improve instruction.
WIDA ACCESS (only for students with English Learner status, grades K–12) measures how well students are learning English. Results help guide English language support and show when a student is ready to exit English Learner services.
Annual Update of Information! IMPORTANT FOR ALL!
Please take a few minutes and complete the Annual Update that can be found on the Parent Portal on Infinite Campus. The Annual Update can be found by selecting the three bars in the upper left corner, selecting More, and Annual Update is on the bottom of the page.
You will go through all of the information that is currently in our system. This includes parent information, emergency contacts, and student and health information. Many of the questions will not need updating (home language, internet use, etc.) however you will need to complete each section, making necessary updates, to reach the end.
The system will send you an email confirmation when you have completed the Annual Update
This option will be available until November 1st.
Talking Points - PLEASE READ!
Beginning October 19th, parents will need to have the Talking Points app downloaded on their phones in order to see messages from their child’s teacher. This is new for this school year.
Here are directions for downloading Talking Points, using it to read and send messages, and turning on notifications for the app.

Important School Information
Online Attendance Form
Is your student ill? Do they have an appointment and will be late to school? Planning a vacation? All of these situations and more can be reported to the Meadowivew Office through our online attendance form! Head over to the Meadowview Home Page to find the Student Absence Form or you can use the link below:
Meadowview School Hours
7:25am - first bell rings, doors unlock for students to enter the building
7:40am - last bell rings, learning begins
2:10pm - dismissal, students are walked out by classroom teachers
Attendance Tip!
Getting to school on time is just as important as being at school. Research shows that continued tardiness leads to poor attendance. Many of the most important parts of a student's day happen within the first 15 minutes. This is often when they have a time to socialize with their peers, orient themselves for the day, take care of necessary business, and connect with their teacher before the day starts. Never underestimate the power of the first 15 minutes of school!
End of Day Routine
Please make sure your child's teacher has an accurate, up-to-date plan for your child's dismissal at the end of the day.
When changes are needed, please communicate those changes with your child's teacher prior to the start of the school day. We cannot always guarantee teachers will see emails during the work day (as it depends on the activities they have planned with the students).
For EMERGENCY CHANGES, please communicate with the teacher and call the front office no later than 2pm. Changes to end of day routines are difficult for students and teachers. If at all possible please change YOUR routine instead of your students routine.
BPA Shoe Drive
Business Professionals of America is a high school club and we are partnering with Funds2Org, to collect shoes for a fundraiser. Funds 2 Org will pay BPA a small rate for each pound of shoes and bring them to shop owners in poor areas around the globe to provide jobs and income for families in poverty.
By contributing to the Shoe Drive you can clean out your closets of old used shoes and teach your learners about charity and recycling. The drive benefits BPA by paying for its club fees, it benefits the environment by giving shoes a second life, and benefits poor communities by bringing a source of income to those in need!
