Hello Riverview Families!

What a FUN Friday at Riverview! Our Falcons had an absolute blast at today’s Falcon Fun Run, and we could not have asked for a better day. The weather cooperated, the energy was high, and it was wonderful to see so many smiling faces as our students ran, cheered, and celebrated together!

One of my favorite parts of events like the Fun Run is seeing our incredible Riverview community come together. From generous donations and volunteers who gave their time, to families who came out to cheer on our Falcons, your support makes these special experiences possible for our students.

A HUGE thank you to our Riverview PTA for sponsoring and organizing such a fun event for our school! We are so grateful for all of the time, planning, and energy that went into making today a success. Thank you as well to our staff, volunteers, families, and everyone who helped make the day so memorable.

Fun was definitely had by all, and today was another great reminder of what makes Riverview such a special place to learn, grow, and SOAR together! I hope everyone has an amazing and relaxing weekend!

Happy National School Custodian Day!

Today we want to give a BIG Falcon shout-out to our incredible custodial team: Mary Riley, Thomas Watterson, and Jackie Loyd!

Mary, Thomas, and Jackie go above and beyond every day to keep Riverview safe, clean, welcoming, and ready for learning. Their impact reaches far beyond caring for our building. They support students and staff in countless ways, are always willing to lend a hand, and tackle whatever is needed with care and dedication.

They are an important part of what makes Riverview such a wonderful place to learn, work, and SOAR! We are incredibly grateful for all they do behind the scenes and all around our school, each and every day.

Thank you, Jackie, Mary, and Thomas! We appreciate you today and everyday!

Fall Parties & Celebrations Fall Parties & Celebrations

As we look ahead to our upcoming fall parties and activities, we want to share a little about how we will celebrate as a school. Our goal is to create fun, memorable experiences where every student feels included, comfortable, and able to participate. We recognize that families have different traditions and feelings about Halloween, so our activities will focus on fall, friendship, and fun, with choices available so all students can join in and enjoy the celebration!

Our classroom fall parties will be held on Friday, October 30, followed by a school parade where students will have a chance to strut their stuff! Students are welcome to wear a costume, dress as a favorite character from a book or movie, dress in their best, show off a fun clothing creation, or simply come as themselves. Participation in dressing up is completely optional. We ask that clothing and costumes be school-appropriate and not include weapons or scary/gory elements.

Next week, teachers will send out information and sign-ups for classroom parties. To help us manage space, supervision, and safety, each classroom will be limited to five parent/guardian volunteers for the party.

We are looking forward to a wonderful fall celebration filled with creativity, community, and plenty of fun! Most importantly, we want each of our Falcons to feel like they belong and can be part of the celebration in a way that is comfortable for them.

October: Bullying Prevention & Drug Awareness

The month of October marks nationwide recognition of Bullying Prevention and Drug Awareness. Our goal is to empower Riverview Falcons with the knowledge and skills they need to help prevent bullying in our community and make healthy, drug-free choices.

We will recognize Peace & Anti-Bullying Week from October 5–9, 2026, and Red Ribbon Week from October 26–30, 2026. Our theme this year is: “Break the Silence: Stop, Support, and Report.”

Check out the flyer below for our Peace & Anti-Bullying Week spirit days and activities, created by our very own Riverview Student Council. They did an amazing job putting everything together, and we are excited to see our Falcons participate!

Visitor Management System Visitor Management System

Student and staff safety is always our top priority. Riverview will continue using the Visitu Visitor Management System this year, following district safety guidelines. All visitors must check in through the office with a valid photo ID. The ID will be scanned into the system and a visitor sticker with your photo will be printed. This sticker must be worn and visible at all times while in the building.

For the safety of everyone, no visitor will be allowed in the building without a valid ID. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work together to maintain a secure learning environment for our Falcons.

A Safety Request Regarding E-Bikes, Scooters, and Bikes on Campus A Safety Request Regarding E-Bikes, Scooters, and Bikes on Campus

User uploaded image
zoom_out_map

Dear USD 232 Families:

We are writing to share an important safety request regarding e-bikes, e-scooters, skate boards, and traditional bicycles on our school campuses.

Across Johnson County, communities have seen a significant rise in the number of e-bikes and e-scooters on roads and sidewalks, including around our schools. Along with this increase is a growing concern about the safety of children and teens operating these motorized devices. Some local communities are now considering additional safety measures or regulations to help protect young riders.

We are not implementing a new rule or regulation. Instead, we are simply asking for your help.

If your child rides an e-bike, e-scooter, traditional bicycle, or similar device to school, we respectfully ask that you encourage them to walk their bike or scooter once they arrive on school district property.

Slowing down in these high-traffic areas can help increase alertness and reduce the chances of an accident during the busiest times of the school day, such as arrival and dismissal.

We recognize this is a request, not a requirement, and we appreciate your consideration and partnership in helping keep all of our students safe.

Additionally, the City of Shawnee requires anyone under the age of 18 to wear a helmet when riding a motorized bike, scooter, or skateboard, and the state of Kansas requires anyone under the age of 18 to wear a helmet when riding motorized bikes. We encourage families to ensure their students wear a helmet when riding any bike, scooter, or skateboard to reduce the risk of injury.

Thank you for your continued support.

USD 232

📵 New State Law: Personal Electronic Devices at School 📵 New State Law: Personal Electronic Devices at School

Beginning this school year, a new Kansas law prohibits students from using or accessing personal electronic devices during the school day while on school property. This includes cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, wireless earbuds, smart glasses, and similar devices. Devices should be powered off and put away from the start of the school day until dismissal.

Please help us by discussing this new expectation with your child before school begins. Students may always use a school phone if they need to contact a parent during the day. Families should also be aware that USD 232 is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal devices brought to school.

Thank you for partnering with us as we implement this new state requirement and continue to provide a focused, distraction-free learning environment for all students.
