Hi Conway #OneFamily!
I trust your family is having a great summer! I sure hope you are able to find some time to do some of the things that you love to do as a family. As we prepare for what is going to be the best school year ever at Conway, we wanted to make sure you had everything you need to plan for a successful and awesome year!
This newsletter is broken into different topics to help you quickly scan for information that is important to you. We hope you find this helpful and not too overwhelming. In addition, here is a one stop shop for all kinds of information about Conway and SCPS.
If you have any questions, wonders, worries, or advice, please reach to me or anyone on our staff via email or phone. We would be super happy to help in anyway we can.

Dates to Remember
- Live Google Meet with JR and Niki on July 18th at 4:00 PM: Join JR and Niki on a live Google Meet for an information session and a Q and A about anything you are wondering about for the upcoming school year. Click on this link to join: meet.google.com/wno-uznz-kcr.
- July 19th from 5:00 - 6:00 PM: Yearbook Signing Party at Conway. If you ordered a yearbook, come on by to pick it up and get some friends' autographs. If you didn't order one, no worries. Come on by for some yummy summer treats.
- August 2nd: All Conway families will receive an email from their child's teacher welcoming them to their classroom.
- August 4th at 5:30 PM: Kindergarten Open House. Doors will open at 5:15 PM. Presentation will begin at 5:30 PM in the gym. Following the presentation, families will be invited to visit the classroom to meet their child's teacher. The evening will end at 7:00 PM.
- August 8th: 1st Grade - 5th grade Open House. To help with traffic control, we will have two sessions for open house. 1st Session: 4:00 - 5:30 for last names that begin with A - M. 2nd Session: 5:30 - 7:00 for last names that begin with N - Z. If you have a blended family with different last names or you cannot make it to your assigned session.....no worries. Just pick one that works for you. If most people follow these assigned times, we will be fine.
- First Day of School for Kindergarten Only on August 9th: For the first time ever in SCPS, Kindergartners, 6th Graders, and 9th Graders (those going through a major transition) will start school 1 day before everyone else. Kindergartners will come to Conway on Tuesday, August 9th.
- First Day of School for Everyone Else (1st - 5th) on August 10th: All 1st - 5th Graders' first day will be August 10th. Kindergartners will come as well.
- August 12th from 5:00 - 6:00 PM: Ice Cream Party for the whole school. All members of our #OneFamily are invited to join us for a celebration of a successful first week together. Bring your entire family for some free yummy ice cream and fun!
Transportation To and From School
It is vital for us to know how every child is going home. During Open House and the few days leading up to school, we will ensure we have information on how every child is getting home from school. To help us get that process rolling, here is some information about our different methods of transportation and forms for you to fill out for each.
Bus Information - Click here to learn about SCPS transportation, how to get your child's bus information, and how to track your child's bus. Routes for the 2022-2023 school year will most likely not be ready until the week prior to school beginning. We will also have this information available at our open house.
Car Rider Information - Click here to learn about our car rider system and/or to register to be a car rider. You can register for this even if you only plan on using this process once in a while. Even if you have been a car rider in the past, please fill out a new form so we have it updated.
Walker Information - If you live in Leeland Station, click here to learn about our walker system and to fill out a walker form for your child. Even if you have been a car rider in the past, please fill out a new form so we have it updated.

Important Times for the School Year
Student Dismissal - Dismissal will begin at 3:00 PM.
- Walkers will dismiss immediately.
- Buses will depart by 3:10 PM.
- Car Riders will dismiss from 3:00 - 3:20 PM.
Attendance and on-time arrival is more important than ever! We beg of you to please begin to establish healthy routines over the next few weeks that you can use to ensure your child is at school daily and on-time. Attendance has a HUGE impact on our children's success. You can see the research below or at this link that outlines the importance and the power of school attendance.
