Note From Our Principal
Dear RedHawk Families
As we head into a well-earned four-day weekend, we’re reminded that February can sometimes feel like a long and challenging month. The days are shorter, routines can feel heavy, and energy can dip. Yet this week’s shift in weather — a little more light, a little more warmth — brings with it a renewed sense of hope. That same kind of shift can happen inside our school when kindness leads the way.
When we return, we will celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Week by creating intentional opportunities for students to lift one another up in simple but meaningful ways. In middle school especially, small gestures matter. A smile across the hallway, inviting someone to join a table, offering encouragement before a test, or simply choosing patience — these acts may seem small, but they can change the entire direction of someone’s day. One act of kindness truly can change everything.
As we enjoy the long weekend, we encourage everyone to remember: the little things matter. Kindness costs nothing, but its impact is immeasurable. Together, we can continue building a school community where every student feels seen, valued, and supported — one act at a time.
With appreciation,
Francesca Favero, Wredling Principal

Quiet Fidgets Requested
We have some amazingly talented student who have been showcasing some of their fabulous fidgets at school. While we encourage our students to utilize tools that help them, the expectation is that these fidgets do not make any noise or cause distraction from student learning. As we relay these messages in school, we ask that you facilitate some of these conversations at home.
We do have some examples of quiet or silent fidgets for use in school. Paper clips, textured worry stones, Nee Doh, marble mesh fidget, fidget rings, and Calm Strips or sensory strips that can be adhered on their Chromebook or folder. These are pictured with this message. This is a sample list but you may discover some options that will work as well.
Upcoming IAR Testing
WMS Families:
Please note that we will be taking the IAR test in March and April. We will be testing on the mornings of March 23rd and 24th, and April 7th-9th. Our 8th graders will be taking the Illinois Science Assessment on Tuesday, April 21st. We are hoping you can help make every effort to have your students here on time and for the duration of the testing period on those dates. Please see this attached letter (also linked below) for more information from D303 regarding this upcoming testing.

Help Us Collect ONE MILLION Pop Tabs!
We’re on a mission to collect one million pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House Charities, and we can’t do it without YOU (and your grandparents, cousins, neighbors, and carpool crew)!
Those tiny aluminum tabs from soda cans, soup lids, or sparkling water may seem small—but when we collect them together, they add up to real support for families with seriously ill children.
Here’s how to pitch in:
Save your pop tabs at home—and ask your grandparents, cousins, friends, and neighbors to do the same!
Bring them to school all year long.
Every tab brings us closer to our 1,000,000-tab goal!
Let's pull together and make a difference!
