A Note from our Principal; Mrs. Shawnie Hays

Greetings SHES Families,

We have had a great start to our school year! We will be working really hard to reach our two building goals for this year:

*Our first goal is that 70% of SHES students (2nd-6th grade) will score at grade-level (T-Bird Ready and Low Risk) in reading as measured on aReading, by the end of the 2024-2025 school year.

*Our second goal is that SHES students (K-6th grade) will show improvement in engagement in learning as a result of their ability to manage their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors as demonstrated by a 10% increase in scoring on the Building Data Matrix by the end of the 2024-2025 school year.

We look forward to seeing all of our Grandparent's (or special adults) September 9, 10, and 12th (check schedule above). We have also reserved the Bubble Party Bus for our 50th Anniversary Celebration from 5:00-7:00pm. We ask that families bring a towel for their student(s) and that once they join the bubble fun, they don't go back into the building.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. I can be reached at

785-730-5345 or at hayss@usd450.net.

Sincerely,

Shawnie Hays, Principal

A Note from our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Katie Clay

Thunderbolts,

Happy September! It has been a wonderful few weeks as we have kicked off the 2024-25 school year. I am slowly but surely getting names connected to faces for our students and families; being at the car line last week was a great crash-course. 😅

We have lots of exciting things happening at SHES this month. We are excited for all of our Grandparent's Day festivities, not to mention our big 50th-year celebration that is coming up! Please refer to our Upcoming Events section to get those dates on your calendars.

I look forward to meeting more of you and continuing to support the great things happening at SHES. Please reach out to me with questions or clarifications at any time. My direct line is 785-730-5183 and my email is clayk@usd450.net.

Take care,

Katie Clay, Assistant Principal
