The Macomb Intermediate School District, in collaboration with Fraser Public Schools is offering a summer school program for students entering 6th-8th grades.
This academic program consists of mathematical mindset messages, number talks, problem-based lessons, and classroom activities from the inspirational math series on www.youcubed.org.
This program integrates engaging activities with interactive software to help correct students’ misconceptions in mathematics and help develop a conceptual understanding of concepts needed to be successful in algebra.
Students will:
- Be provided with daily opportunities to read, write, and discuss their ideas with peers.
- Organize their learning in a readers-writers notebook, with the course ending in a culminating multi-genre project that answers the thematic question, “What makes me who I am?”
- Work toward their individualized reading and writing goals, and share their best work with an audience beyond the classroom
