PRINCIPAL CORNER

T.G. Smith Elementary Families,

We had a great week of learning! Starting next Tuesday, September 6th, we will begin WIN time from 1:30-3:00. This is a time when students will be receiving intervention and enrichment on grade level essential standards. Please do not check your student out early unless they have a doctor's appointment. If your student needs to be checked out early, we will need you to bring a doctor's note because they will be missing very important instruction. Thank you for working with us to ensure your student receives high levels of learning.

Congratulations to Mrs. Marks' and Mrs. McFetridge's classes for winning the PERFECT ATTENDANCE award for August!

School will be closed on September 5th for Labor Day. Enjoy time with your families!

Free & Reduced Lunch Meal Forms

Please complete the Free/Reduced Meal Form as soon as possible. We have paper copies of the form as well. If you need assistance with completing the form, feel free to reach out to us in the office. We'd love to help!

MAP TESTING

MAP testing begins next week. Please be sure that your child attends and arrives at school on time each day so they are able to do their best.

The table below shows what days students will be testing.

ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

Morning Arrival:

Just a reminder that our morning bell rings at 7:45 a.m.
Starting Monday, August 22nd, students will be asked to walk into the building by themselves.
Please make it a morning priority to have your child to school no later than 7:45 a.m. If a student arrives after 7:45, parents will need to walk their child to the office and sign them in for the day. In the event your child accumulates excessive tardies, a school official will be reaching out to assist you in developing a plan for arriving at school on time. This is an important skill for students to acquire at an early age.

Car Rider Arrival:

Please do not let your students out of the car until the duty teacher walks out at 7:15 a.m.

Car Rider Dismissal:

Students are dismissed beginning at 3:10 (M,T, Th, F) and 1:50 (W).
Students are dismissed to the car rider dismissal area with a blue car tag. If you do not have your tag, you will be asked to park and wait until students are called outside at 3:25.
If you are picking up a student in the car rider line, please stay in your car in the dismissal line and we will bring the student to you. If your student is not able to open/close the car door and buckle their seatbelt, please take time this weekend to practice.
Please do not park and bring your tag to the covered walkway. This procedure was put in place to keep our students and their families safe. If you have any questions, please give Mrs. Simco or Mrs. Barron a call and we will be able to help you.

⚾BACK TO SCHOOL RALLY⚾

Mark your calendars for September 14th at the Naturals Ballpark to celebrate Springdale Public Schools! TGS will have a booth to celebrate our school. The event begins at 5:00 p.m. and is completely free. Complimentary parking is available with the phrase "Springdale Schools Rally." Wear your T.G. Smith Elementary shirt to show your pride.

The baseball game begins at 7:05 p.m.

Smith Elementary t-shirts are on sale for $10.00. If you would like to purchase a shirt for your child, please send cash to the office. We are limited on sizes, but will be making another order.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We need volunteers to help with the crosswalk on Fridays from 7:15-7:45. If you are willing to help us with this important safety measure, please let Mrs. Simco or Mrs. Barron know.
