What's Happening at DCMS
February 2026 Newsletter
Dear Families,
February is a short month, but it is one of our most meaningful of the school year. As we continue into the second half of the school year, our focus is on strengthening academic growth, building positive habits and continuing to build a strong sense of community. Teachers have been reviewing data to help drive instructional decisions for the second half of the school year.
As we approach our yearly ISASP test at the end of March, students will set personal goals for Math and English in their classes. We continue to emphasis consistent attendance each month. Our January attendance incentive winners were the 6th grade class with 96% attendance for the month of January.
Quick note about recess:
Please remind you students to bring hats, gloves, coats, or any other cold weather gear that they may need. We typically go out side every day, unless the windchill is to extremely cold. We use the national weather service windchill chart to determine if it is to cold out. Unless the windchill is to a point where there is a chance of frostbite may occur, we will be going outside.
