What's New at SRC?

New Bus

Unfortunately, we had a bus of our blow an engine. We are very fortunate that we have a backup just in case for these reasons. We were able to find a replacement bus and we have officially had it on the road since the beginning of the new year. Through smart planning by our board and district, we are fortunate to be able to be able to purchase this bus through these tough times of supply and demand.

Snow Plow

We have purchased a new snow plow that will allow for easier movement of snow and help Mr. Stewart clear at a faster rate. Hopefully we don't have to use it often but it is a great addition for our district!

New library door

Our library as you know is one of five pubic/school libraries in Nebraska. Our public side has been offered a grant that will allow us to purchase a new door that will offer security and accessibility. This door will be located on the inside of the corridor of heading into the library. It also will be a "buzz" entrance that will add to our security for our entire district.

Recap of the Week!

Another great week in the books and another great day to be a HUSKY!!! 💛 🖤 🐾

DeMoine Adams was great and had a great message!

We had a great opportunity to have a former University of Nebraska standout football player to come and speak with our school to kick off the new year! He will have a great message of "Heart over Hype" and was a great way to get our students and staff ready to finish the year strong!

Message from Mr. Tejkl

"Keep moving forward..."

Good morning!

I hope that you have had a great start to your weekend and that your Sunday is going even better! Reminder that we will not have any school for our students because our awesome staff is going to York for a PD conference that will allow them the opportunity to bring back some great knowledge for their classrooms and their students.

As we remember the great Martin Luther King Jr. throughout this month, I want to share my favorite quote from his many that he has. I love the philosophy here where it doesn't matter whether you can move at the same pace or way that your neighbor is moving, it is more important to know that you are moving FORWARD!

In our profession, we are constantly looking to improve our craft and wanting to give our best to our students and to ourselves. We are also looking out for our neighbors and helping them through their battles that they may be going through knowing that it isn't about out-doing each other but making sure no one is being left behind and that we are moving forward together. The journey is reaching the destination but knowing that the paths may be different and that is perfectly fine.

In life, it is the same. It doesn't matter if you go to college, a trade school or to the workforce. Throughout school, it isn't about having all A's or scoring a 36 on the ACT. It also doesn't matter being able to read 3 paragraphs when you enter Kindergarten or reading 700 pages in one setting as a 5th grader. These are all great goals but we all move at different paces but the main constant is that we continue to move forward toward our goals knowing the end destination of what YOU want to be.

As parents and as patrons, there is no blueprint on how to do our job as parents or how to raise our kids through out community. But the fact remains that if we are pushing our kids to be their best then you can guarantee that they are moving forward to a better tomorrow. Keep that in mind because we all feel run down at times but know that each day you are improving and you are making the world a better place for all involved.

Quote of the week to reflect on:

"If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward."

Martin Luther King Jr.

Sincerely,

Tucker Tejkl
