Lutherville Lab Report
What's gone down & what's coming up at the leopards' lair.
November 12th, 2021
First -- we have a new phone number! We got a phone upgrade to a VoIP system and along with that came new phone numbers. Our 410-887-7800 number will continue to be forwarded and work for a few months, but please mark the following changes:
Main Office: 443-809-7800
Main Fax: 443-809-7804
Nurse Fax: 443-809-7809
Second -- BCPS announced today that all schools will close on Wednesday, November 24th and Elementary School Conference day is adjusted to Tuesday, November 23rd. Please work with your child's classroom teacher if this impacts your planned conference.
We had a full week here at Lutherville Lab. The warm weather allowed us to enjoy some outdoor opportunities with the BioBlitz for 5th grade, recess, PE, and Instrumental Music. Our clubs are in full swing and it's so inspiring to see students here before and after school taking advantage of our enrichment opportunities.
Students finished MAP testing this week. In the coming weeks, BCPS Office of Assessment will prepare student home reports for the assessment that will communicate where students are at a given moment in time for reading and math relative to their peers. Here at school, we've been looking at reports from the assessment that show precisely where groups of students are in given skill areas, allowing us to customize instruction.
Teachers are hard at work finalizing report card information this week as well. Report Cards will be published to the Focus Student Portal at 4pm on Monday, November 22nd. Attached to this newsletter is information on setting up a Focus parent account if you have not yet done so. You may also call the school for assistance from Ms. Dominick if needed. A printed copy will also come home with students. Overall, we are extremely proud of how our students have adjusted back to full-time, in-person learning this fall and routines have become smoother with students' increased independence.
In partnership,
-Mr. McComb
COVID Vaccination Opportunities for 5-11 Year Olds
Please see the information below shared by the Office of Health Services:
Where can I get COVID vaccine for my 5-11 year old child?
· Check with your child’s pediatrician. If they have COVID vaccine, please register for an appointment with their office.
If your child’s pediatrician does not have COVID vaccine, please sign up for an appointment on the Baltimore County COVID Vaccine website. www. Coronavirus Vaccine Distribution (arcgis.com)
What if I only see a few appointments on the website? Don’t worry. Additional clinics for the week of November 8 will be added to the website soon.
Where is Baltimore County offering COVID vaccines for 5-11 year olds? Baltimore County is holding clinics at the following locations in the next week:
· White Marsh Mall in the old Sears store;
· Sollers Point Community Center;
· Randallstown Community Center;
· Lansdowne Elementary School.
How can I get more information?
· Talk with your child’s pediatrician about COVID vaccine; both the risks and benefits as well as ways to get an appointment.
· Call the Baltimore County COVID Hotline at 410-887-3816.
LL Volunteer Vaccination/Testing Program Compliance
As part of the ongoing efforts to verify vaccination status for adults working with BCPS students, Lutherville Laboratory volunteers are asked to verify their vaccination status through the BCPS Vaccination Verification Smart Sheet by November 15th.
Volunteers should select “volunteer” under position and then select the appropriate vaccination status.
- If you are vaccinated, please upload an image of your COVID immunization card or you can locate your immunization records here: https://md.myir.net/
- If you are not vaccinated or do not wish to disclose, you can select participating in weekly testing at a BCPS location through CIAN Diagnostics. Locations and schedules will be provided for individuals who select this pathway.
Because weekly testing creates an additional layer of monitoring and follow-up for our school staff, providing vaccination records is much preferred.
In total, new volunteers will need to complete the following steps:
-Volunteer Application
-Orientation (online)
-Health and Safety Mitigation Training (online)
-Vaccination Verification
Please complete these items and send certificates of completion to Ms. Lisa Dominick (ldominick@bcps.org) and Ms. Sasha Jackson (sjackson13@bcps.org) prior to the day you intend to begin volunteering. This affords us time to communicate on any discrepancies and also complete background checks with the Maryland Sex Offender Registry.
Thank you for doing your part in supporting our layered approach to keep students and staff safe and healthy.
