Clear Creek Calvary Newsletter
April 2022
Hello Clear Creek Cavalry Families...
Fort Hood has put out new policies for the mask mandate. Killeen ISD has followed suit with on post schools. Please remember that wearing a mask is still an option. Students, parents and staff are able to wear masks to help ensure their health if they so choose. We remain thankful to our families for their continued support. We appreciate you all for supporting us in reminding and practicing with students safety protocols such as wearing masks, washing and sanitizing hands.
Always remember that we are here for your students and for you. We encourage our families to please reach out to your child's teacher as your first and fastest point of contact with any questions or concerns. Also, keep your eye on our marquee, look out for emails, as well as flyers coming home with information regarding upcoming events. Check your students folder every Wednesday for information from us.
Progress Reports go home on Wednesday, April 20th. The progress report will be in your students Wednesday Folder. We want to be sure that we keep you in loop as you are our best partners in supporting your child academically. So, teachers will be reaching out to conference with parents of any student who has a failing grade in any subject.
We are glad to continue to be able to invite our families to campus for various events. CHECK BELOW TO SEE WHATS HAPPENING AT CLEAR CREEK THIS MONTH.
REMINDER: Students in PreK - 1st grade are not permitted to walk to or from school alone.

Campus Clubs Feature...
Run Club
Coach Page and a few of her Run Club Students take to the pavement.
Clear Creek Run Club is up and running for 4th and 5th grade students after a brief break due to COVID. Run Club is instructed by our Clear Creek Coaches, Coach A, Coach K, and Coach Page. Their mission is to inspire students to be healthy and active beyond their PE instruction, through weekly running activities that are fun and engaging. Run club promotes self-confidence and prepares students emotionally and physically for a season-ending 5K. Clear Creek Run Club welcomes all levels of runners, helping each student work toward their running goals. “Sweat, Smile, Repeat!”
Drone Club!!
Drones are an inspiring topic that motivates students to learn more about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The drone industry is one of the most promising and fast-growing industries today. The purpose of this club is to help inspire the next generation of drone pilots and designers.
Students have been working on flying drones from October to April meeting twice a month. This is the first year that we have had Drone Club and we are learning the ins and outs and trial by error. We received the LiteBee Wing Drone from district and this drone is only an inside drone.
Students have learned:
-Drone terms: Yaw, pitch, roll
-Taking pictures
-Coding
-Free flying
-Flying around and through obstacles
Coaches: Mr. Kirk, Mrs. Harris, Mrs. Harvey
Art Club
We have had a lot of excitement creating fun and sometimes edible projects in the A.R.T. Club. Last week we finished our dream catchers and then decorated cookies; Delicious! We are extremely excited because we are going to try our hand at some face (cheek) painting 😁. It may take us a few tries but I'm sure we will find an expert or two by the time we finish. We may be able to add some of our expert face (cheek) painting artists to STEAM Night.
The A.R.T club meets Thursdays from 3:45-4:45.
Passport to Manhood
To engage our young boys in discussions and activiites that reinforce character, leadership, and postive behavior. Boys will be aware of the process of becoming a man an as a rite of passage. They will learn how to become a responsible adult male and form bonds with other members of a team.
Passport to Manhood consist of 3rd to 5th grade males. We meet from October to April and average 40 students each week. Students learn and practice multiple tasks as a rite of passage.
The classes consist of self-esteem, identity, academic success, being healthy, fatherhood, employment, diversity, cooperation, conflict, and personal leadership. They currently had an opportunity to learn how to tie a tie
Coaches: Mr. Kirk, Coach Arzola
Garden Club
Garden Club has
gone to work drawing up
plans for the new garden beds.
Look for information on our fund raiser event which will be ongoing for the month of April. Students will bring home order forms and more information next week. If you purchase a cinder block to help us build our garden bed we will stencil your name on the block before placing it.
Thank you so much to all of the families and staff members that have already purchased bricks. We so appreciate it. The students are very excited to get started building the new garden beds.
We hope to add more clubs next year. Students have already offered some ideas.
