Central Elementary
Parent Newsletter 1/23/26
A Note from Mr. Hamilton, Principal
Greetings,
What a wintry stretch of time we've had. If your circumstances call for support, and your Central family can help in any way, please don't hesitate to reach out. Otherwise, we look forward to things stabilizing a bit, and getting back into a regular rhythm and routine of teaching and learning in the days and weeks to come. Please use this newsletter as an opportunity to stay informed, as well as plan and prepare for upcoming opportunities and events. With January coming to a close, you'll notice the Leadworthy theme for February is Kindness. It's hard to argue against the widespread need for more of that :)
I want to draw particular attention to the CKH portion of this newsletter edition. As you recall, Central earned National Showcase School honors last year. In an effort to sustain that status and continue as an NSS school, we recently submitted our Evidence of Impact report to the selection committee. Essentially, the narrative outlines who we are, what we're all about, how we use the EXCEL model to nurture and connect with heart, and what the data suggests as it relates to the effectiveness of our CKH practices. Please take some time to review. I hope it fills you with the same level of pride and joy that it does us. This is a special place!
As always, thank you for your ongoing partnership...for our kids!
Cordially,
Cody

Be Prepared with the appropriate Clothing for the Weather
Please send your student with the appropriate winter gear for recesses. No matter the age of the child, it's a good idea to send an extra change of clothing, including socks, to keep in their locker in case they get wet while playing outside. Being prepared saves a phone call home.
Please Keep Our School Grounds and Neighboring Yards Clean
Please be respectful of our school grounds and those around us by keeping the area litter free.
Thank You!

- If you're running late, please bring your child to the office and sign them in.
- When dropping off and/or picking up your child, we thank you for coming to the sidewalk, rather than having students run to you in the parking lot.
- DK/K Parents: For safety reasons, please remain on the north side of the cones when parking near the northeast parking lot. We stage our youngest learners south of the cones.
***Please remain patient, observant, aware, and courteous. Arrival and dismissal is simply about all kids being able to enter and exit school safely. We appreciate your partnership in keeping these critical portions of the day both safe and supportive.

MEDICATION AT SCHOOL
Medications which need to be taken in school must be administered by certified school personnel (or designee) in the presence of another adult. Parents must bring medication to the school office in the original container and file a written statement. NO STUDENT MAY BRING ANY MEDICATION TO SCHOOL.
Contact the office if you have any questions.

Student Cell Phones and other Texting Devices at School Need to Remain in the Backpack in the Locker
Cell phones and/or texting devices can be disruptive to the educational environment. Students are not permitted to carry them during the school day - this includes during recess and lunch. When possible, parents should communicate through school staff. If these items are brought to school and are seen, they will be taken away. Items will be held by the principal until a parent or guardian comes to school to pick them up. Apple watches are discouraged, but if worn, should only be used as a watch. If seen talking on or texting with an Apple watch, the watch will remain in the office until a parent or guardian comes to school to pick it up. Thank you for your observance of this policy.
NO PETS ON SCHOOL PROPERTY
Please do not bring your pets on school property for the safety of our students and staff. Service animals are welcome.
Thank you for your understanding!
