AVA Family Update
November 2, 2025
Good morning AVA students and families,
The schedule, guidance updates, community updates, and important dates are all below as per usual.
We have no school on Tuesday. My only other news is the below (last) notice for Seniors and Juniors who are attempting to catch up and graduate this school year.
LAST NOTICE: Seniors, and current Juniors who hope to be promoted mid-year and still graduate this May: Attached below is a letter from the AHS Principal outlining the things you need to do to ensure a smooth graduation, whether you plan to participate in Senior Events or not. Please read it carefully and attend to the tasks assigned.
Thank you for your time.

Guidance Updates
West Point Military Academy Visit
AHS will be hosting a current cadet to come to campus on November 24 to share his experience at West Point. AVA students interested in a military academy are encouraged to join us this date! Registration is coming soon, mark your calendars for now!
ASVAB Testing
Once again, for AVA students grades 10-12 who are interested in a military path, the Guidance Dept. hosts on campus twice a year the ASVAB exam, a necessary exam to enter the US military services. Our first ASVAB test administration is coming up soon on December 5th at 7:30am, and pre-registration is required (click HERE to register). For free practice materials, click HERE for practice exams and HERE for practice questions.
MCAC Week on Campus
AVA seniors interested in applying to colleges are strongly encouraged to participate in this on-site admissions event for the Massachusetts College Application Celebration (MCAC) week! Students submit their college application(s) to these institutions early and then meet with college representatives, who will then give them an admissions decision, as well as offer eligible scholarships! The MCAC schedule is as follows:
11/17, Mon - Bridgewater State University
11/18, Tues - University of Massachusetts Dartmouth
11/19, Wed - Suffolk University
11/20, Thurs - Bristol Community College
11/21, Fri - Roger Williams University and Framingham State University
We still have some seats open, so please click HERE to register asap! Feel free to email Ms Nellie below with questions or for assistance.
FAFSA is Open!
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is open, and any college-bound AVA seniors and families are encouraged to start the FAFSA process sooner than later. Everything needed can be done 100% onilne. Class of 2026 will complete the FAFSA 2026-2027 form. Be sure to first create an FSA ID if you do not have one. Students and at least one parent must each create an individual FSA ID in order to digially sign and complete the FAFSA. Email Ms Nellie with any questions or for support.
College Highlight - MassTransfer Program
For any AVA seniors and famililes thinking about college after graduation, MassTransfer is a great, affordable plan towards a 4-year degree. In summary, students begin at any MA state community college and earn an associate's degree by the end of two years. After that, if the student has at least a B average, they can then transfer to an MA public college/university without any application or fees and complete the remaining 2 years there to get a Bachelor's degree.
As always, please feel free to email me (nng@attleboroschools.com) with any questions, comments, or concerns. Have a great weekend!
