Mustang Explorers Mustang Explorers

In PfISD we have started implementing the 3E promise, which ensures 100% of students will graduate high school ready for enrollment, enlistment, or employment. While high school is a long way away for our elementary students, we are starting now by exposing students to different activities through Mustang Explorers. Each month students get to explore a different activity so they can see which things interest them for future pursuits.

Field Day Field Day

Field Day is 2 weeks away and we are so excited! Your teachers will be sending lots of information next week but here are a couple things to note:

  1. Your student will have the opportunity to get wet (like really wet). We have a fire truck coming out ½ way thru the day to spray the kids with a water hose out from the fire hydrant. Please plan for your student to wear their swimsuit under their clothes! And be prepared to bring a full change of clothes as well as towel.

  2. Field Day does not cancel due to weather. If we have to we pull everything inside but for right now we are hoping for a beautiful March Day!

  3. You will be allowed to sign your student out at the end of their field day. Look for more info to come.

  4. Coach Harvey needs volunteers. Here is a sign up:

FAMILY LIBRARY CHECKOUT WEEK - MARCH 9-12 FAMILY LIBRARY CHECKOUT WEEK - MARCH 9-12

Hello! Ms. Grillo is excited to host another Family Library Checkout Week at Murchison for the week before Spring Break! This will be a time where adults can visit the library with their MES students and pick out books together! Adults will each be able to pick out up to 10 additional library books and check them out under their account. No need to fill out any forms, just come!

The time will be 7:05-7:30 before school starts. All students with adults may enter through the library outside door (Door 2). No need to badge in at the front. Adults will be asked to leave through that door as well, and students will be asked to go to class when the 7:30 bell rings to avoid being counted tardy.

Family checkout week will be by last name during the week before Spring Break as follows:

Last Names A-F: Monday, March 9th

Last Names G-L: Tuesday, March 10th

Last Names M-R: Wednesday, March 11th

Last Names S-Z: Thursday, March 12th

Books can be returned after spring break, either directly from your student, or placed on the cart that will be placed at the front foyer of the school.

This will be a great way for students to stock up on extra books before the Spring Break! Please let Ms. Grillo know if you have any questions: theresa.grillo@pfisd.net

New Student Enrollment Opens March 2, 2026

Beginning March 2, families may complete:

  • General K–12 new student enrollment
  • Pre-K screener (Texas law does not allow us to process Pre-K applications until April 1, however, interested families can complete the screening process on March 2).

Enrollment: https://www.pfisd.net/registration-information

Important for Current Families

Current students do not need to enroll. All families will complete the required Annual Forms over the summer.

2026-2027 Transfer Window Dates

Whether transferring within PfISD or joining us from another district, we’re here to make the process clear and straightforward.

  • Intra-District Transfers Open: February 23, 2026
  • Out-of-District Transfers Open: March 2, 2026
  • Application Window Closes: March 30, 2026

New This Year: Transfer Renewals & Transition Years

  • In-District Transfers:
Transfers will automatically continue each year as long as the student stays at the same campus and is in good standing.
  • Out-of-District Transfers:
All out-of-district transfers will be reviewed annually. Families will receive a renewal notice if approved or a revocation notice if eligibility requirements are not met.
  • Students Entering Transition Years:
Any student entering a transition year (Pre-K to Kindergarten, 5th to 6th, or 8th to 9th) must submit a new transfer request for the next campus.

Learn more about the transfer process: www.pfisd.net/transfers

Pre-K & Kindergarten Registration Help Days

We’re excited to begin another school year together and look forward to supporting your student every step of the way. Your PfISD journey starts here, and we’re ready to help every family get started.
