A note from the principal's desk...

Welcome Back, Panther Families!

The start of each school year brings a mix of emotions for staff, students and even parents. Thank you for helping to make this first week of school successful!

This week staff and students focused on building relationships and routines in the classroom. Whether a student is starting kindergarten, a new grade or are new to Hesperia there will be many changes with the start of a school year. Each day is a new opportunity for success. There will be many failures along that road to success this year. We will support our students to learn from those failures to grow. When was the last time something didn't go as planned for you and you had to try again? Think about those opportunities to show your children that adults learn from their mistakes also to improve.

It takes a village to raise children to be independent, courageous, caring, and supportive individuals. Together we will encourage our students to rise to the occasion!

Thank you for your partnership, and we look forward to an amazing year!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Short

PowerSchool

Parents, please log into your parent powerschool portal to complete the back to school enrollment forms online. This needs to be completed for all of your children each year. If you are still having issues please contact Kristin in the office 854-6615 or Brooke Hren 231-854-6385. We have had a few sick kids this week and had trouble contacting parents because phone numbers were not updated. Thank you for your help.

Start and End Times/ Transportation

School Starts: 7:50 a.m. (students may enter building at 7:45 am)

Students need to exit the vehicle on the passenger side ONLY when the car is located near the sidewalk. Use the cross walks if parking in the parking lot.

The entryway doors open at 7:30 but there is no adult supervision until 7:45 when students are permitted into the hallways. If you drop your students off early, please remind them of the expectation to sit quietly in the entryway and they should not be running around outside. This becomes a safety concern.

Pick up:

K/1: 3:10 Please park in the parking lot and wait near the cross walk by the football field.

2-4: 3:15 Please park in the parking lot and wait for your students near the administration office cross walk.

Bus dismissal: 3:15 p.m.

Please call Bus Garage 854-9301 for scheduled bus #/times

Drop-off and pick-up times can be hectic, and we know that delays and frustrations may happen. Please remember to show grace, patience, and kindness to one another during these times.

As we get ready for another great school year, please remember to make sure your child has any necessary emergency medications and health supplies at school.

Please send in, as applicable:

Inhalers
Seizure medications
Diabetic supplies and medications
EpiPens
Current physician orders, action plans, and required medication paperwork

Please make sure all medications are current and properly labeled and that the appropriate paperwork/action plans are completed.

Having these items on hand helps us keep your child safe, healthy, and ready to learn!

Bond Update and Construction

Our bond update and construction is in full swing. The High School restroom remodel is being finished, exterior buildings and plaza area are being prepped and parking lot construction and rerouting is underway. The bond update is a multi year plan so expect construction and new changes to the campus as we progress through the next few years.

The curve into the elementary parking lot by the baseball fields will now be closed. You will turn left at the daycare and go past the bus garage before turning right into the HS parking lot. To enter the elementary parking lot you will follow this toward the football field and take the drive around for drop off.

Please be cautious of the change in traffic and high school students parking in the lot.

School Meal Program

The Education Benefits Form is important for our district because it not only allows our students to receive a free breakfast and free lunch but there are many other school programs we participate in based off this information. Other benefits of the family portal include balance transfers from one family member to another, check your student balance, and in the future make student deposits for incidental purchases like extra entrees, snack sales, and milk. This form is completed on the PowerSchool enrollment form. Thank you for taking the time to complete this also.
