Week of Jan. 8, 2024

Hi team.

This month is all about Leadership!

  • My daily Principal challenges will center around high-needs components of Leadership that we observe around campus.
  • On Tuesday, Annys, CAST leaders, and I are coming around to classes at the time you signed up for to set Leadership goals.
  • On Tuesday, CAST leaders are presenting at the Kuna School Board meeting and helping board members set Leadership goals for the month. I'm excited to help our new school board members feel the power of student-led goal setting!
  • CAST is planning Leadership activities, including a walking field trip to Indian Creek for each class to be paired with a class of littles to read and color with them (Jan. 30 at 11:00am), recess activities, a class Sugar Cube Igloo competition, and a visit from the KMS CAST team (date still pending).
  • Our PLC Conversation Leads for the month are practicing Leadership--thanks for everyone for stepping up to this co-leadership model of PLCs.
  • Daily, hourly examples of staff stepping up and being leaders in a variety of ways. I believe we are truly a special team of professionals that work so hard to be leaders of learning with students, with each other, and with our community.

We are leaders in learning by being learners ourselves. I've loved exploring SCARF with you and hope that it's making an impact in how you see colleagues, students, and yourself. We can't lead others if we're not leading ourselves (to echo Rachel's words about "discipline" being her focus for the year).
As our Leadership value says, "We live by what we believe. We make decisions to make the lives of others better. We are leaders."

How can you make someone's life better this week?

Love,

Michelle
