Student Placement for 2025-26
Like Deer Hill, Osgood staff are beginning to prepare for the new school year. One important task we undertake is the creation of balanced classroom communities. We know that a positive, productive classroom environment is essential to student success, and forming balanced classes sets that stage.
The process of building classes is thoughtful and collaborative. Our teachers and specialists work together to consider both formal and informal data to ensure that each class is well-rounded and supportive of all students’ needs. Some of the factors we take into account include:
-
Academic strengths and needs: Using current assessment data and teacher observations, we aim to create classrooms where students can learn from and with each other.
-
Social-emotional considerations: We consider each child's unique personality, friendships, and social dynamics to help foster a supportive and respectful classroom culture.
-
Learning styles and support services: We factor in students who may benefit from specific teaching approaches, as well as those receiving additional services such as special education or reading/math specialist support.
-
Gender balance and overall class size: We strive for equitable representation and manageable class sizes across all grade-level classrooms.
This process takes time and care. We value each child as an individual and work to place them in a classroom where they will thrive both academically and socially. While we do not accept specific teacher requests, please know that your child’s well-being and success are always our top priorities in this process. If you feel there is important information about your child that we should consider during class placement, we invite you to share that with us in writing by May 2nd. You can email Mrs. Gaudette at agaudette@cohassetk12.org or your child's teacher.
We appreciate your trust in our professional judgment and collaboration in making the best decisions for our students.
Thank you for your continued support.

The 7th Annual ‘Cohasset Earth Day Clean-Up’ date is Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Please join your Cohasset community in celebrating Earth Day 2025 by participating in the annual "Cohasset Earth Day Clean-up" beautification project!
Sponsored by the Open Space & Recreation Committee, Cohasset residents will rally to remove non-biodegradable, single-use trash and debris that crowd our parks, shorelines, and neighborhoods. To receive a cleaning assignment, please stop by the Cohasset Recreation Department between 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 at 100 Sohier Street.
The Open Space & Recreation Committee will help assign workers an area to clean. Trash bags and ‘pickers’ will be provided but please bring your own gloves. All trash collected will be deposited in an onsite dumpster. Thank you for your participation … it takes a village!
