The Trojan Triumph
December 5, 2025
From the Principal's Desk
I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving. November has been a busy and rewarding month at Centerburg High School. Our students continue to engage in meaningful learning both inside and outside the classroom. Highlights from the month include our varsity cheerleaders volunteering at the Centerburg Senior Center’s Thanksgiving Dinner, Mrs. Burns’ Child Development class visiting The Ohio State University, and many classrooms incorporating hands-on, interactive learning experiences. In addition, nearly a dozen students gave back to the community by participating in Serve the Burg.
As we approach the end of the quarter, please take a moment to review your student’s grades in PowerSchool. If you need assistance logging in, contact the high school office. For any questions regarding specific classes or assignments, please reach out directly to your student’s teacher.
Wishing you and your family a joyful and restful holiday season.

Counselor's Corner
- Senior students and parents, here is a link to the Senior Countdown. It contains a month by month detailed description of what senior students need to be doing in order to prepare for graduation and life after graduation.
- Seniors: If you have not already done so, please ask a staff member, coach, manager at work, etc to write a letter of recommendation for you. Scholarship season is around the corner and you will need to have this completed.
Seniors: Some of you have requested your transcript for college applications and such. Please know that if you have taken a CCP class, your FINAL transcript for those classes will need to travel directly from that college to your future college. Each institution is different and will have directions on the website.
In March, all Juniors will be given the ACT exam. This is offered free of charge through the State of Ohio.
To date, 58 students have enrolled in CCP classes this school year at CHS or online.

Child Development Class Gets Real-World Experience at Ohio State
Mrs. Burns' Child Development students recently elevated their learning with an exceptional field trip to The Ohio State University!
On December 3, students toured the Schoenbaum Family Center, home to the prestigious A. Sophie Rogers School for Early Learning. They explored a state-of-the-art facility, learning about best practices in early childhood education, including the role of the on-staff chef and the children's vegetable garden.
The highlight was participating in a college-level observation of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Students applied classroom theory to real-life situations, gaining insight into children's behavior and development.
Students noted their favorite observations included:
Peer-to-peer teaching
Problem-solving skills
Social interaction among the children
This experience reinforces the high-quality, practical education our students receive in Child Development!
The trip also included a campus tour, visiting the Ohio Union, Orton Hall Geology Museum, Mirror Lake, and the Main Library, offering a valuable glimpse into future academic opportunities.

Cell Phone Policy
This is a reminder that students are not permitted to have their cell phones on during the instructional day (8:16am - 2:54pm). The first time a student is caught with their cell phone, it will be taken to the office and returned at the end of the day. The second time a student is caught, the phone will be taken to the office and a parent or guardian will have to pick it up after 2:54pm. After the second offense, the phone will need to be picked up by a parent and Saturday School will be assigned to the student. If you need to contact your student, call the office and we will get a message to your student.
