NEWS & INFORMATION
We had a great week at school and it has been wonderful to see all the learning and hard work happening in our classrooms! We are also excited that our Book Fair is coming next week. Families will have a chance to shop together during our special evening hours on Thursday from 4:15-7:15 PM if grown-ups would like to stop by. Students in grades K–5 will also have the opportunity to shop during their scheduled library time. With the weather beginning to warm up, we are looking forward to getting outside more often. Please remember to send your child with a coat or sweatshirt, as it can still be a little chilly when we go out.

AHOY MARSHALL FAMILIES ⚓📚
March 23–27, 2026 we will be celebrating Right to Read Week with a fun, pirate-themed adventure: BOOKaneers - Finding Treasure in Books!
Right to Read Week is a special time when we celebrate the joy and importance of reading in our school community. We are so excited for a fun week filled with books, creativity, and activities that help our students grow as readers! To help families plan ahead, we wanted to share the details early. Below you will find our dress-up schedule for the week, along with some simple activities you can do at home to celebrate reading with your child. We have also included a special RAH sheet for students to complete. All of these items are coming home with your child today as well.
As part of our celebration, students will have the opportunity to invite a VIP (Very Important Pirate) to join them during their scheduled library time. VIPs may be parents, grandparents, special family members, or other important adults in your child’s life.
During this special visit, VIPs and students will:
Read together (bring a favorite book from home or choose one from our library collection)
Complete a fun directed drawing activity
Play a game
We kindly ask all VIPs to sign up using this link so we can plan accordingly. (If you have more than one student, please fill one out for each student.) Additionally, any grown-up who would like to attend must have a completed volunteer application on file prior to coming in. The form can be emailed directly to Mrs. Jones or returned to your child’s teacher. If you have already completed a volunteer application and have one on file with the school, you are all set—no need to complete another one.
On the day of your visit, please arrive 5–10 minutes before your child’s scheduled library time. VIP’s will need to bring an ID and sign in at the office. A staff member will greet VIPs and walk the group up to the library when it is time for the class to begin.
Thank you for partnering with us and helping make Right to Read Week a memorable and meaningful experience for our students!
We look forward to welcoming our VIPs aboard for this exciting week of literacy fun!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Jones @ joness@talawanda.org or

NOTES FROM THE OFFICE
Student Fees:
Fees have been loaded to PaySchools if you wish to pay online. You can also pay in the office with cash or check.
Lunch Accounts:
As a reminder, you are able to add funds to your student's lunch account through the PaySchools system. If your student's account reaches -$50 it will be rolled into your school fees. Please be mindful and keep your student's account current. You can use PaySchools, send a check or cash to the school office to take care of your student's balance.
Free and Reduced:
If you would like to apply for free or reduced lunches, please reach out to the Marshall office or the Marshall social worker Chrissy Rolfes at rolfesc@talawanda.org. We can help walk you through the online application or help you fill out a paper form in the office. If you qualify for FREE lunch, your fees will also be waived. (EXCEPT for 5th grade Chromebook fee) If you qualify for REDUCED, fees will be reduced by 85% (EXCEPT for 5th grade Chromebook fee) and meals will be FREE.
Dismissal:
Thank you for your help in keeping dismissal safe and smooth for everyone. We ask that when your child is called to your car, you please help them climb in and then pull forward to the upper lot to buckle them into their car seat. Remaining stopped in the dismissal lane to buckle your child slows down the process for all families and, more importantly, it creates an unsafe situation when other cars attempt to go around. Your cooperation makes dismissal safer and quicker for all of our students.
Final Forms:
Remember, if you have any changes to your information (phone number, address, who can pick up your student, etc) throughout the school year, change it in Final Forms! The office is notified of these changes and will update our information. IF you have an address change, you must submit new proof of residency to the office before we will update your address.
