Tambark CreekPrincipal NewsletterOctober 2025

We apologize for the delay in getting this month’s newsletter out to you. Thank you for your patience and understanding, we’re grateful for our wonderful Tambark Creek community!

Tambark Creek Elementary School principal newsletter.

From the Principal’s Desk – October 2025

Dear Tambark Creek Families,

Thank you for attending our 2025 Curriculum Night last week!
I appreciated your presence during my presentation and the thoughtful questions and comments you shared. It’s always great to connect with our families and work together to support our students' success.

Fall PTSA/TCE Carnival – A Huge Hit!
A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our fall carnival! We had a fantastic turnout, and it was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the blow-up toys, games, and delicious food. Your continued support of our school events makes all the difference.

Important Reminder About After-School Pick-Up
If your child is a walker, please remember that you must pick them up in the back undercover area by the big toy.

Do not wait by the front doors or the front fence—students exiting the front are for rolling pick-up only.

If you have both a kindergartener and a student in grades 1–5, please:

  1. First go to the back to pick up your 1st–5th grader.
  2. Then proceed to pick up your kindergartener.

This helps streamline pick-up and avoids extra walking around the school building. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our dismissal safe and efficient.

Tambark Creek Café News – New Food Highlights!

Our Food and Nutrition Department is committed to offering meals that meet our students' needs and preferences. Here are some updates:

  • Vegetarian options will now be clearly highlighted on the printed menus.
  • Our hot dogs are made with turkey.
  • Our corn dogs and sausage patties are made with chicken.
  • Taco meat (exclusive to Tambark Creek) is made with turkey and will be used in all Soft Tacos and Nacho Grande dishes.

Don’t miss Soft Tacos on the menu – October 22nd!

We’re excited to continue providing delicious and thoughtful choices for our students.

Extended Day Classes Begin

We’re launching extended day classes for selected students in grades 3, 4, and 5. These sessions provide targeted academic interventions based on student data and are designed to support learning in key areas.

Families of participating students will be contacted directly by their teacher or our instructional coaches. We appreciate your support in helping students reach grade-level standards.

Fall Fundraiser Update – Thank You!

Our Lego Land Builders of Tomorrow fundraiser was a tremendous success! Together, we raised nearly $30,000—all of which goes directly back to benefit our students through:

  • Field trips
  • School events
  • Enrichment opportunities

We are so grateful for your generosity!

Upcoming PTSA Event:
Don’t miss our Glow Dance on October 24th – it’s going to be a blast!

Thank you for all you do to support Tambark Creek Elementary. We are grateful to partner with such an amazing school community!

Warmly,

Mrs. O'Connor-Weaver

COUNSELOR CORNER

BULLYING AWARENESS

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. At Tambark Creek, the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will learn how to prevent and stop bullying. We will be using the Bullying Prevention curriculum from Second Step. We define bullying as when someone keeps being mean to someone else on purpose. The person it’s been happening to hasn’t been able to make it stop. It is unfair and one-sided. When students experience bullying, they may be afraid to go to school, have low self-esteem, and feel like they don’t belong. Knowing how to prevent bullying, and how to identify and stop bullying can help create a safe school and community.

Examples of bullying behavior:

  • Hurting someone’s body or belongings
  • Using words to hurt someone’s feelings
  • Leaving someone out on purpose
  • Getting others to be mean to or exclude someone

How can we stop bullying?

  • Recognize: is it bullying or a conflict? Does it keep happening?
  • Report: report the bullying situation to an adult.
  • Refuse: when you refuse bullying, you can assertively tell the person to stop. Being assertive means to use a strong, respectful voice and respectful words.

How can we prevent bullying?

  • Being respectful to everyone (one of our Tambark Rules!).
  • Including others.
  • Learning about each other and accepting differences.
