Inclement Weather and School Closure Reminders
With winter weather right around the corner, we want to remind families what to expect in the event of school delays or closures. Remember, we will only provide communication if there is a change in school operation status. If you do not receive an alert or update the morning of school, you can assume that school is operating normally. Parent-guardians and staff will receive alerts through ParentSquare in the event that there is a 2-Hour Delay or Closure of school due to inclement weather. Parent-guardians can also visit the district or school website for the latest information regarding operation status.
- Parent-guardians will receive an email and text message alert through ParentSquare if there is a change to the school day. We encourage parent-guardians to double-check that their correct contact information is up-to-date in ParentVUE.
- Decisions are made based on road conditions, ability for staff and students to safely get to school, and weather forecasts.
- It's possible that Snow Routes may be implemented depending on road conditions.
- 2-Hour Delay and School Closure Decisions will also be announced via FlashAlert for community members who choose to sign up.

Safety Spotlight — Understanding the Dangers of Fentanyl
Throughout the 2023-24 school year, the West Linn-Wilsonville School District will embark on a Fentanyl Awareness campaign to educate students, parent-guardians, and community members of the dangers of Fentanyl.
Fentanyl has become increasingly prevalent all across the Portland-Metro area and the nation, including in West Linn and Wilsonville. Often times, fentanyl is disguised as Adderall, Percocet, Oxycodone, Xanax, or other pills. These pills are not pharmaceutical-grade medications. Most of the time, fentanyl is coming across the border from Mexican cartels in the form of powder. It's then pressed into counterfeit pills which look exactly like tablets manufactured by legitimate pharmaceutical companies, but there's no quality control. Pills in the same batch can have wildly varying levels of fentanyl. The amount of fentanyl that it takes to overdose and die is equivalent to two grains of sand.
The most important message to share with your teen is that these pills are not harmless, and that one pill can kill.

Music and Arts Partners (MAP) Accepting Donations
Donate to MAP and be entered in a drawing to win a Pendleton blanket!
Music and Arts Partners is an independent, nonprofit organization made up of volunteers that advocate for arts and music education in the West Linn-Wilsonville School District. We provide essential financial support for a wide variety of programs in the West Linn-Wilsonville School District. We fund requests for equipment and supplies and also sponsor scholarships for graduating seniors.
Individuals making a donation to MAP during the month of November will be entered into a drawing to win a Pendleton blanket (retail $299). Every $50 will receive one entry in the drawing. The more you donate, the more chances to win! Donations can be made at MAP's website.
Volunteer in WLWV Schools!
The West Linn-Wilsonville School District uses HelpCounter for volunteer registration and sign-in to increase safety and security for all students. Interested volunteers can register to volunteer in WLWV schools by visiting the Volunteer Registration webpage. Simply select 'Start' to fill out your application, which includes a background check. The first time that volunteers sign-in to volunteer at any WLWV school they will be prompted to accept a Volunteer Agreement.
Volunteers must also re-register every three years, or when volunteering at a new school. Note that volunteer coaches register through a different process. Contact your school's athletic director or principal for more information.
Volunteering in WLWV schools is an extremely rewarding experience. Your time is greatly appreciated by both staff and students!
