A Health Update for District 300: Increased Flu Activity
District 300 Families,
We want to make you aware that flu activity is currently high in our area, and respiratory illnesses are spreading within our community. These trends may continue in the coming weeks.
To help reduce the spread of illness, families are encouraged to take the following everyday preventative steps:
Wash hands frequently with soap and warm water, especially after coughing, sneezing, or using the restroom.
Cover coughs and sneezes using a tissue or your elbow or upper sleeve rather than your hands.
Help contain illness by keeping students and staff home when they are sick. If symptoms include fever or chills along with a cough or sore throat, families are encouraged to contact their healthcare provider.
For guidance on when students should remain home from school, please review District 300’s Sick Day Guidelines at: https://www.d300.org/support-services/health-services/sick-day-guidelines
Thank you for your continued partnership in helping keep our schools healthy.
Sincerely,
District 300

Weekly Dinner Chat!
As a parent or guardian, you play a powerful role in shaping your child’s character. These weekly dinner chats are a simple but meaningful way to create a home school connection and help your child understand and practice our Keys of Excellence at both school and home.
Commitment
Commitment to Hard Work:
Theme: Understanding that true commitment involves effort and follow-through.
Discussion Questions:
What's something that was really difficult for you when you first started, but got much easier because you stayed committed to practicing?
When you are feeling tired or lazy, what's a mental trick you can use to remind yourself of your commitment and finish what you started?
What's the difference between doing a task and doing a task with excellence? How does commitment play a role in the quality of the work?
Dinner Activity: Share a story about someone you know—a coach, a teacher, a historical figure—who showed extraordinary commitment and stuck with something for a long time. What was the reward of their commitment?
