All Things Title 1
At Hurlock Elementary School, being a Title I school means we receive additional federal funding to help ensure every child has access to a high-quality education and the support they need to succeed.
Title I funding helps us provide extra resources, targeted academic interventions, additional learning opportunities, and programs that strengthen the partnership between school and home.
As a Title I school, we are committed to:
Supporting Every Learner: Providing additional instruction and interventions in reading, math, and other areas where students need support.
Ensuring Equal Opportunities: Helping remove barriers so all students have the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.
Partnering with Families: Offering family engagement events, learning resources, and opportunities for parents to be actively involved in their child's education.
Monitoring Student Growth: Using student achievement data to identify needs, celebrate progress, and adjust instruction.
Building Strong Community Connections: Working with local organizations and families to support students academically, socially, and emotionally.
Growing Greatness β Every Child, Every Day, Every Opportunity
Being a Title I school is about more than additional funding. It is about our shared commitment to ensuring that every child feels valued, receives the support they need, and has the opportunity to grow into a confident reader, problem solver, leader, and citizen.
At Hurlock Elementary, we believe greatness grows when schools, families, and communities work together.
Attendance Matters
Our school day is packed with learning from 8:45 a.m.β3:45 p.m. There truly isnβt time to spare.
Our commitment: Make every minute with your child count.
Our ask of families: Help us by having your child at school, on time, and here for the entire day.
#NoTardyTaters!
This year, weβre making being on time a little more fun with our #NoTardyTaters initiative!
Our goal is simple: Be in the building BEFORE 8:45 a.m.
Why before? Because 8:45 is when learning begins! Students need time to get to their classrooms, unpack, settle in, and be ready to learn when the bell rings.
In the building before 8:45 β In class and ready at 8:45 β More opportunities to Grow Greatness!

Standard Response Protocol
Again this year, HES will use the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) to help keep everyone safe during emergency situations. Depending on the situation, we may use one of five responses: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, or Shelter.
Families should know that using one of these protocols does not always mean there is immediate danger. For example, a Hold may simply be used to keep hallways clear while we address a situation that requires safety or privacy.
Throughout the year, students and staff will learn and practice each protocol so that if an emergency occurs, everyone knows what to do and how to respond calmly, safely, and effectively.
