Roadrunner Ramp Weekly
News from Arbor View Elementary School: 8/15/25
Weekly review and upcoming information
From Principal McCray
We are counting down the days until we see our students again. School starts on Wednesday, August 20. Included in this newsletter are several tidbits to help with arrival, dismissal and other pertinent information.
As a friendly reminder, we ask that families stay in their cars during drop off and pick up .
- If you would like to take pictures, please park your car to capture the moment so that we don't hold up the traffic flow.
- Pets are not allowed in and around school areas. This includes bus stops. We ask families to be mindful of this as some students and families may have allergic reactions to them. I know that students are anxious to see their pet at the end of the day (and the dog wants to go for a walk!) but these animals can be disruptive to a school environment, scare students, and carry allergens.

Car riders will enter the school parking lot off of Teakwood Avenue and follow the signs for drop-off. We respectfully ask that families stay in their cars during the drop-off process. If you would like to walk your student to the door, please park in the parking lot. All adults must bring a valid photo ID.
Please allow an extra 5–10 minutes to get accustomed to the new check-in process.
School supply lists available online
School supply lists for all five CCSD 89 schools are available on the district’s website at www.ccsd89.org/supplies
CCSD 89 school celebrations will no longer include food
Snacks from families will no longer be handed out to students during holiday parties at CCSD 89 schools. Starting in the 2025-26 school year, food treats will not be a part of these in-school classroom celebrations on holidays such as Halloween or Valentine’s Day.
Families handing out food in schools has raised issues with managing allergies, safe food preparation, and room cleanliness. The focus of the classroom celebrations will shift away from food and focus on activities that the entire class can participate in.
Celebrations can still include other small, non-food items such as stickers, valentines, or pencils. Water will continue to be available to students throughout the school day, including during holiday parties.
