We love to see our elementary students coming through the door with smiling faces!

These Little Flyers are happy to be at school!

Superintendent's Message Superintendent's Message

Dear Flyer Community,

I would like to extend a sincere thank you to our families for your patience and attentiveness during Mondayโ€™s unexpected early closure. A huge shout-out goes to our staff, whose swift efforts ensured all students made it home safely. It was wonderful to see our entire community pull together to maintain a safe environment for our children.

To clear up any lingering rumors regarding the cause of the closure, I want to clarify what occurred. During standard annual water testing, the main gate in the waterline was closed as part of the routine procedure. When technicians attempted to reopen it, the gate broke, leaving the building without running water. State regulations require schools to close when water service is unavailable.

Thanks to a local plumbing supplier having the required part in stock, our maintenance crew worked quickly to repair the issue and restore water service, allowing school to resume the following day.

While this situation was unexpected, it served as an effective real-world test of our emergency notification systems and safety protocols. Thank you again for your quick responsiveness and ongoing support!

While I know we are only a few weeks into the school year, I am thrilled to share that our current district-wide attendance rate across all buildings is 97.5%, surpassing our annual goal of 95%! This achievement is a direct result of your dedication to prioritizing your childrenโ€™s education each and every day. Consistent attendance is one of the most powerful predictors of student achievement and lifelong success.

Below I am sharing the "Top 10 Reasons To Come to School Every Day" and an article you may find helpful if your child is struggling to get to school.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership, support, and commitment to making attendance a priority in our school community. Together, let's keep this momentum going!

Warm regards,

Brooke Ashley

Top 10 Reasons To Come to School Every Day ๐Ÿ† Top 10 Reasons To Come to School Every Day ๐Ÿ†

1. Reading on Grade Level ๐Ÿ“–

Studies show that consistent attendance from Pre-K gives the best start for early literacy development. Students who aren't reading on grade level by 3rd grade have a lower chance of graduating. It starts that early!

2. Joining Classmates on Exciting Field Trips ๐ŸšŒ

Don't miss out on hands-on learning experiences outside the classroom, like visits to museums, nature centers, science centers, parks, and performances of all kinds. These enriching experiences help students figure out their passions.

3. Forming Lasting Friendships ๐Ÿ˜

Attending daily allows students to foster strong social bonds and an inclusive peer network. Even if not all friendships work out, developing the skills is only possible with ongoing interaction. Students who develop their social skills through school attendance have more positive relationships, overall.

4. Developing Effective Study Habits Early โฐ

Good attendance instills vital skills like punctuality, time management and self-discipline. A big part of succeeding is learning how to learn. Daily attendance from elementary onwards helps students build their toolbox of strategies for success.

5. Demonstrating Responsibility and Commitment ๐Ÿ™Œ

Employers value established patterns of dedication and follow-through. Whether students are getting after school jobs in high school, or securing employment after graduation, good work habits are formed by consistent school attendance. It's also how students get teachers to serve as references!

6. Maximizing Instructional Time with Teachers โœ๐Ÿฝ

Fewer disruptions means more personalized learning and academic support. Sometimes, students don't come to school because they're struggling with the material in class and staying home is a way to avoid it. But the better choice is to come to school -- that's where the support is. The more time students have with their teachers, the more successful they will be.

7. Greater Self-Esteem and Confidence ๐Ÿ˜

Not having to play catch-up reduces stress and boosts self-assurance. This is exactly what will carry students successfully through graduation and beyond.

8. Higher Grade Point Averages ๐Ÿš€

Abundant research links stellar attendance to higher GPAs and test scores. In fact, one study shows that the #1 reason students fail a course is from being absent.

9. More Scholarship and College Opportunities ๐ŸŽ“

Colleges want applicants with strong attendance showing perseverance. And it's not just colleges! Employers look for employees with a track record of good attendance!

10. Increased Lifetime Earnings and Success ๐Ÿ’ฐ

Excellent attendance correlates to higher career achievement and earnings potential. And not just that! It correlates to better physical and mental health, healthier relationships, and a happier quality of life. Something we want for every child!
