Safe Schools Week Safe Schools Week

This week is School Safety Week, a time to highlight the work of the Mason Public Schools Comprehensive School Safety Team (CSST). The CSST consists of staff members with a variety of job duties and specializations, bringing a wide range of expertise to the team. Because each individual approaches safety from different angle and areas of focus, they are able to work together to create strong, well-rounded plans and programs.

The CSST works behind the scenes to ensure emergency plans are up-to-date and ready to use during drills and in the event of emergencies. They also provide hands-on training to staff, share important safety updates with staff and families and continue to assess and improve the district's approach to school safety. Learn more on the School Safety website. Safety is a shared responsibility, and we appreciate your partnership.

School Bus Safety Week School Bus Safety Week

As students and families have settled into the school year routine, National School Bus Safety Week is a timely reminder of how riders and drivers can work together to keep every trip safe.

Students who ride the bus are reminded to be at their stop 10 minutes early, make sure they stand 10 steps back from the road and board one at a time once the door is fully open. When crossing, students should walk only in front of the bus and wait for the driver’s signal.

While on the bus students should stay seated, keep aisles clear and follow the driver’s directions.

When driving around buses, please stay alert and always stop for flashing red lights and stop arms. Thank you for doing your part to ensure our students arrive safely to school. Learn more about bus safety on the Transportation website and at Michigan State Police Bus Safety website.
