Drop-Off and Pick-Up Reminders
For the safety of our school community, please remember that all student drop-off and pick-up during arrival/dismissal should occur through the car line around the back of the building. The front entrance is reserved only for families who have received prior approval due to individual accessibility or support needs.
With recent updates to the traffic flow of Broadway Blvd., it is especially important that all families dropping off or picking up in a car are following the car rider route (pictured here). Doing so helps keep traffic moving safely and ensures a calmer, more efficient experience for all families, as well as ensure we are being good neighbors to our Midtown community. If you do not wish to wait in the car rider line, you are welcome to park on a surrounding street and walk to the front entrance for drop-off or pick-up, which is often the faster option.
Thank you for helping us make arrival and dismissal time safe and stress-free for everyone!
NEW - Submit Absences Through Your Parent Portal!
As you hopefully found out at your family conference last week, you can now submit student absences through your Parent Portal! For the remainder of this school year, please begin to use this new convenient feature, though you are still welcome to email/call regarding absences if you have any issues with your Parent Portal. We will begin using this system exclusively next school year!
For more information, you can view this info sheet or the short instructional video below. For help logging into your Parent Portal, please email Ms. Kidd. For other questions regarding submitting student absence requests, please speak with Ms. Jamesetta or Ms. Gina at the front desk.
Food Pantry Donations
CWCKC's food pantry is in need of donations! We are accepting non-perishable food items such as canned fruit, canned soup, cooking oil, and breakfast cereal. Please drop off donations in the bin found in the front lobby of the Broadway building before Tuesday, November 18th. All collected items will be available to Citizens families at the November pop-up pantry on November 20th. Contact Jessie Cox with any questions!
Dental Screenings Tomorrow
Tomorrow, November 4th, KC Care will be onsite at our Broadway campus for dental screenings. Students in all grades will receive a screening, which involves a brief check of students teeth and mouths with a dental mirror. Screenings will be held inside the school building and will be conducted by KC Care dental staff and UMKC dental students. You will receive communication from KC Care if your child needs follow up care. If you DO NOT want your child to be screened, then you must send back an opt out form or contact Johanna Chambers, Director of Student Support at johanna.chambers@cwckansascity.org or 816-979-3591.
First Friday - Friday, November 7th
All kindergarten through 5th grade families are invited to join us for this month's First Friday this week! Please have your student escort you to their classroom at 7:45 am to see what they've been working on in class, then we'll all come together in the MPR for our assembly led by the 5th graders. See you there!
Fall PBL Field Trips & Presentations
Our 2nd through 8th graders are diving into their schoolwide fall PBL unit, which revolves around water! In preparation, each grade level will participate in either a presentation at school or a field trip to begin their research. Below you'll find the dates for each, and you can expect to hear from your child's teachers with details. Don't forget to add the Fall PBL Showcase on December 12th to your calendar!
