LP School District Newsletter
April 20, 2026
Dear Bulldogs,
This week is National Library Week. This year's theme is Find Your Joy. It's easy to find joy in our library. We are so fortunate to have Kim Walter and Dede Breimhorst in our library media center! Kim and Dede help foster a love a reading for all of our Bulldogs. They help curate the library collection, conduct story times, and help both students and staff find exciting “next reads.”
Thank you, Kim and Dede, for making our library a happy, welcoming, and interesting place to learn and find great books to read!
With gratitude,
Supt. Melissa Radeke

Finishing Strong!
As we move into the final weeks of the school year, the warmer weather and excitement of summer can sometimes make it harder for students to stay focused. We know this time of year can be challenging, but it is also an important time for students to continue giving their best each day. End-of-year classroom work, final projects, and state assessments are opportunities for students to show how much they have learned and how much they have grown this year.
We ask for your support in encouraging your child to finish the year with a positive attitude, strong effort, and respect for others. Coming to school ready to learn, staying engaged in class, and treating classmates and staff with kindness will help every student end the year on a strong note. By working together, we can help our students stay motivated and feel proud of the way they finish the school year.
ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR:
As I write this week's submission, I am sitting in a hotel room waiting to attend my youngest child’s possible last college event. It got me thinking about all the senior parents that are down to their last month of activities for their graduating seniors. It’s a bittersweet moment. I’ve been through it 3 times. The first one wasn’t as big of an issue, emotionally, because I knew I had two more children involved in activities that I would get to attend and support. As the youngest came through and it got to this last month of high school, it really started to hit me that this is the last time I get to see MY kids involved in high school activities. I struggled with it for a time. Some of you are in both spots. This is your oldest child to graduate and you have more children coming through or this is your youngest child and all the running will soon come to an end. Whatever your situation, remember to really take it in and enjoy these last activities with your seniors.
Go Bulldogs!!

TEACHING AND LEARNING:
Greetings everyone,
Our educating staff have continued to work hard all year and are dedicated to all students. We have some wonderful news for our LETRs training staff, who have completed two years of training and have completed this wonderful work on the Science of Reading! Now, our educating staff are continuing the work of the Science of Reading Implementation to their everyday lessons. Recently, students took the CAPTI Readbasix diagnostic screener that is also an informative assessment for our teaching staff to better understand our own teaching practices. Finally, for AVID, we are working through a financial literacy unit in the AVID elective class and look forward to hosting another guest speaker! Please let us know at Lester Prairie Public Schools, if you are ever interested in being a guest speaker for our AVID elective class.
Sincerely,
Mr. Ryan Sinda
Student Success Coach/MnMTSS Coordinator
COUNSELOR CORNER:
MCA Testing is Underway – Supporting Students Through Testing Season
Our MCA (Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments) are officially in full swing! We are proud of the effort our students are putting in and appreciate the support from families during this important time of year.
While testing can sometimes bring added pressure, there are simple and effective ways to help students manage stress and test anxiety and feel more confident:
- Keep routines consistent: Regular sleep and morning routines help students feel prepared and focused.
- Encourage a positive mindset: Remind students that these tests are just one way to show what they know, but effort matters most!
- Practice relaxation strategies: Deep breathing, stretching, or taking a few calm moments before testing can make a big difference.
- Focus on balance: Make time for physical activity, hobbies, and downtime after school.
- Offer encouragement: A simple “You’ve got this” can go a long way in boosting confidence.
At school, we are also supporting students by creating a calm testing environment and reminding them to take their time and do their best.
Thank you for working with us to help students feel supported, confident, and ready to succeed during MCA testing season!
