Jane Ryan Lion's Newsletter
August 28, 2026
Dear Jane Ryan Families,
What a wonderful first two days of school it has been! There is truly something special about seeing our hallways, classrooms, cafeteria, and playground filled with students once again. After a busy summer of preparation, our staff was incredibly excited to welcome everyone back, and the energy throughout the building these first two days has been fantastic.
It has been wonderful to watch students reconnect with friends, meet their new teachers, settle into classroom routines, and begin building the relationships that will make this school year so successful. From our youngest learners beginning their Jane Ryan journey to our fifth graders starting their final year with us, there has been a great deal of excitement throughout the building. I am incredibly appreciative of our staff for all they have done to make these opening days so welcoming and positive for our students.
I also want to share an important staffing update with our families. I share that Mrs. Chappa has made the difficult decision to accept a position at Trumbull High School beginning Monday. Mrs. Chappa has been an important member of the Jane Ryan team, supporting our students, families, and staff in countless ways during her years in our main office. We appreciate her service to the Jane Ryan community and wish her all the best as she begins this next chapter at Trumbull High School.
At the same time, we are very pleased to welcome Mrs. Silvana Wilczek to the Jane Ryan family. Mrs. Wilczek comes to us from Middlebrook Elementary School, where she held the same position, bringing valuable experience and a strong familiarity with our district. We are fortunate to have someone with her experience joining our team, and I am confident she will be able to hit the ground running as she gets to know our students and families.
Beginning Monday, if you need assistance from our main office regarding your child, please feel free to email either Mrs. Scalise or Mrs. Wilczek at swilczek@trumbullps.org. They will work together to ensure our families continue to receive the support and communication they need.
Thank you to our families for helping make the opening of school such a positive one. Your patience and flexibility, particularly as everyone settles back into arrival, dismissal, transportation, and school-year routines are greatly appreciated.
We could not have asked for a better start, and I am looking forward to all that is ahead for our students and the Jane Ryan community this year.
Have a wonderful and relaxing weekend!
Warmly,
Pat Horan
Principal

Community News:
I wanted to share some exciting news...the 10U Little League All Stars won the New England Regional Championship this past Friday in Cranston, Rhode Island. Before that, they won their District, Section and State Championships!
Incoming 5th graders Colin McDermott, Ernie Greywacz and Luca Purpero had the chance to be on the team with nine other Trumbull boys. It was an incredible accomplishment following a summer of hard work and dedication! The team was managed by Jane Ryan dad Ernie Greywacz.
The Jane Ryan community and Trumbull as a whole showed up for these boys and helped carry them through.
