A Note from Mr. Graves

Something to Think About
Motivated to learn
What is the best way to keep your child inspired to learn? Help her learn to motivate herself? Raise a self motivated youngster with this advice.
Point to the future
Your youngster may feel more motivated to learn something if she understands how it will be important later. Tell her about ways you use school subjects like math, reading, and writing at work.
Move on from mistakes
There are two ways to react to mistakes: Feel discouraged, or get motivated. Encourage you child to look at a mistake as an opportunity to succeed next time. If she made careless errors on a report, for example, she could proofread papers more carefully in the future (take a break before proofing, read backward).
Celebrate hard work
Have your youngster find natural motivators when she is faced with a big job. For instance, she may plan to read a new mystery she has been looking forward to after finishing a challenging book for school.
Title 1 Survey
We are constantly looking for ways to improve the instructional programming and general supports we offer our students and families. Earlier this year during our curriculum night I was able to share with those in attendance information about Goshen Lane and what it means to be a Title 1 School. If you were in attendance, or if you were not able to attend, please take a few minutes to complete this survey regarding our Title I program. The responses will be used to guide our school programming plans. Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete it.
