Westmoor Weekly 10/24/2025
October 24, 2025
A Note from Principal Eck
Dear Westmoor Families,
We are looking forward to our upcoming Halloween Parade and are excited to celebrate with our students and families. The Village of Northbrook has scheduled construction on Shannon Street next week, which may impact our traditional parade route. If necessary, we will adjust the final portion of the route and guide students through the blacktop area instead. We will continue to monitor the status of the construction and communicate any changes should they arise. Additionally, while we are hopeful for pleasant weather, please note that the parade will be canceled in the event of inclement conditions. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding.
In other news, our 3rd and 5th graders have just wrapped up their first rotation in the STEM Lab. Students enjoyed completing their investigations and learning more about the engineering and design process. We are proud of their hard work and curiosity as they explored new challenges and collaborated with classmates. Next week, our 2nd and 4th graders will begin their own STEM Lab rotation, and we are excited to see their creativity and problem-solving skills in action.
Have a wonderful weekend.
SCHOOL NEWS
Halloween
For our Halloween celebration at Westmoor, children need to come to school in the morning in school-appropriate costumes. They will be wearing costumes all day so please make sure it's a comfortable costume (no inflatables) that can be worn throughout the day. Weapons of any kind (light sabers or swords, for example) are not allowed. Masks are allowed for the parade but will need to be removed during classroom activities. Please see the parade map below for the route we will take on Halloween through the neighborhood. The parade will begin at 2:15 p.m. with parties following at 2:45 p.m. For family members who cannot attend, the parade will be live-streamed on the Westmoor YouTube Channel. In the event of inclement weather on Halloween, the parade will be canceled.
The Village of Northbrook will be starting concrete patching work near Westmoor School beginning Monday, October 27th, and the work is expected to take about one week to complete. The affected area is Shannon Rd. right behind the Westmoor playground.
School Picture Update
School pictures should be delivered to WM and sent home with your student next week IF you ordered before September 30. If you ordered after that date, they should arrive the week before Thanksgiving.
