Pennridge Flag Football Soars Like the Eagles!
A few months ago, the School Board approved Pennridge’s First-Ever girls ’ flag Football Team. They are gearing up for a playoff run, and we wanted to invite them to Monday's meeting so our audience could meet them and they could be recognized for making us #PennridgeProud! This week, they have two very important games against CB East and our biggest rival, Quakertown.
And we just learned that 3 of these athletes will represent Pennridge on an even bigger stage as some the best female flag football athletes from the Phialdelphia region!
Sophia Rosica, Caitlyn Peace, and Casey Peace were all chosen to try out and be selected to join the 2025 Philadelphia Area Big 33 team! We’ll let you know if they made it at next month’s meeting!
Mini-Thon Raises Nearly $30,000
Another “team” that continues to make us proud is our Pennridge High School Mini-THON club at The Pennridge High School- PSD. From the poignant “luminary" event to the party-like atmosphere on Saturday night, the annual Mini-Thon is always impressive. But, it doesn’t just happen on its own; there is a focused group of students and staff behind the scenes. This year, Mini-Thon set a goal of raising $30,000 for the Four Diamonds Foundation that battles Pediatric Cancer, and they are just shy of that goal. So, this week, we will offer a district-wide dress down day as well as an electronic payment option to help them get close to their goal. We’re calling the “Pennridge Day of Giving”
At the School Board meeting, we welcomed advisors, Nicole Gordienko, Allyson Kearney, Megan Graham, and Leanna Goodrich as well as many of the incredible students from Mini-Thon who make it all happen!
"April Showers" Celebrates 5 Years of Fun For a Cause!
At our School Board meeting this week, our Pennridge High School Unified Sports team leaders were recognized for the excellence they bring not only to The Pennridge High School- PSD but also the entire District through their spirit of #inclusion #empathy and #hope they provide to all of our students!
Our annual "April Showers" event is known by many as one of the best school days of the year and a few weeks ago, the water cannons were turned on by our local Fire Departments and hundreds of students ran through the rain as a fundraiser for the Unified Sports program at Pennridge.
Organizers, Jessica Ashlock, Angela James, Christine Fehnel, Jenn Camaratta, and Kathy Aquino lead other staff and student leaders to make April Showers a memorable event for the last 5 years! They are joining us tonight to recognized for everything they bring to the Pennridge Community!
PHS Senior- sets his sights on a medical career from UBCTS Experience!
David Ramirez Esquen is a Senior at The Pennridge High School- PSD and also a student in the Health Care Careers Program at Upper Bucks Tech. He is also the Student of the Month at the Tech school!!
David moved to the United States from Peru three years ago with his parents and two sisters, as his family sought more significant opportunities for their future.
David continues to flourish at the tech school. He successfully earned his Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification and after graduation, he plans to attend Bucks County Community College to pursue his Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification, to become a Registered Nurse (RN), and, one day, possibly a doctor.
Grasse STEM Team is "Best in Bucks" for Innovation!
Congratulations to Mohil Mangrolia, Havish Vekaria, and Rihaan Thumar for being the "Best in Bucks!" These 5th graders from J.M. Grasse Elementary School- PSD placed 1st at the Bucks County STEM Competition at the Bucks County Intermediate Unit #fablab this month!
This was one of three teams from Pennridge in this awesome competition, and also competing against 13 other top teams in the county!
The boys' STEM idea was to develop a safe road infrastructure integrated with an energy-generating system utilizing pressure plates. They developed this idea based on the challenge where elementary and middle school students focus on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure by designing a prototype that addresses a real-world problem related to infrastructure, transportation, or urban development.
A special thanks to their Teachers, Mrs. Lewis, Mrs. Jardine, and Mrs. Godshall, for teaching and cultivating their amazing STEM ideas!
Next up: The boys will now compete in the state finals at Harrisburg on May 9th.
Reading Olympics ROCKS!
We celebrated a huge group at our School Board meeting this week! The annual Reading Olympics was a big success again this year and all of our schools did a great job. There are 25 Books distributed every year by the Bucks County IU and students spend months reading and preparing to compete in Reading Comprehension contests. We honored many of those students who discovered new books and made us #PennridgeProud!
Bedminster 2nd Grade Student Celebrated at Bucks IU Gallery!
We have some very impressive students from Bedminster Elementary School- PSD! On Monday night, we recognized them at our School Board meeting.
Congratulations to Daniella Falcone, a 2nd-grade student at Bedminster Elementary School. Daniella’s captivating artwork, titled Falling Leaves, was chosen for the 2025 Student Art Gallery at the Bucks County Intermediate Unit. Daniella is a very hardworking and diligent artist who says she feels joyful when making art.
Bedminster First Grade Student Art on Display at Bucks Business!
We were also excited to introduce everyone to First Grader, Carter Ryan who finished 3rd place in the Thompson Toyota- Draw the Future contest. With an incredible 1,748 entries from across Bucks County, creativity was on full display and Carter’s artwork will proudly be displayed at Thompson Toyota in Doylestown.
We also wanted to thank their Art teacher, Sheena Tenney, for supporting and fostering creativity in Daniella Carter and all of her students.
Agriculture Literacy Week Helps Students Appreciate More...
Pennsylvania Agricultural Literacy Week is dedicated to fostering connections between agricultural community members and local classrooms to share the vital story of agriculture. During that week, we were pleased to welcome volunteer readers into our elementary schools, where they engaged students by reading a specially selected book focused on farming and agricultural themes.
Kathy Moyer, Kate Hedrick, Mark Sheetz, Don Buckman, Bruce Weikel, and Kate Goldberg also enriched the experience by sharing their personal stories, highlighting their involvement in agriculture, the programs they participate in, and their broader connections to the agricultural industry.
We welcomed some of them back on Monday to our Board meeting- thanks again for your lasting impact on our students.
On Monday evening, we started something new and look forward to it moving forward. Dr. Berrios took a moment to publicly recognize and thank the Harris Family — Mr. Jimmy Harris, Mrs. Brenda Harris, and their four beautiful children, Emma, Eva, Noah, and Nora — for their tremendous support of the Pennridge School District community.
Last fall, the Harris Family generously volunteered their time by bringing calves to R.B. Deibler Elementary- PSD providing our students with a hands-on, educational experience that they will not soon forget. Dr. Berrios had the opportunity to meet Jimmy and Brenda Harris — both proud Pennridge graduates and then visited their dairy operation firsthand after the Harris Family graciously welcomed him to their farm, and it was truly a remarkable experience.
On behalf of the district, Dr. Berrios extended his sincere thanks to the Harris Family for their generosity, hospitality, and ongoing commitment to our students and community. It is families like theirs that make Pennridge such a special place.
