Stay Connected
We want to stay in close contact with you about your child’s progress and school news. To do this well, we need to have your most current information on file.
Please take a moment to log into Skyward to make sure your contact information is correct. We specifically need to ensure we have your current:
Email address
Phone number
If you need to make changes or have trouble logging in, we are here to help. Please contact Mrs. Bundschuh in the school office. She can assist you in updating your records so you don't miss any important messages.
Thank you for helping us keep our records accurate and for being an active partner in your child's education.
Exam Information
We know that your time together as a family is very important. We also know that every day of learning counts for your child’s success. To help our students do their best, we are asking for your help with school attendance. We kindly ask that you schedule family vacations and doctor appointments during times when school is not in session. When students miss class, they miss out on important lessons and hands-on activities that are hard to make up.
To help you plan, please check the District Calendar. It lists all the days we are closed for holidays and breaks.
Important Exam Dates
Testing days are especially important. Please make sure your student is in school during these times. Our upcoming exam dates are:
Winter Exams: December 16, 17, and 18
Spring Exams: June 4, 7, 8, and 9
Exam Policy
Please be aware that there are no makeup dates for exams. If a student is absent and does not take their exam on the scheduled day, they will receive a zero for that test. Because exams are a large part of a student's final grade, missing them can have a serious impact on their academic progress.
We want every student to finish the year strong. By working together to prioritize these dates, we can ensure your child has the best chance to succeed.
Thank you for your support and for being a partner in your child's education.
STR8TALK Assembly
KHS will be having an assembly at the beginning of September. Please read the information about the assembly below.
STR8TALK is a powerful program designed to educate middle and high school students about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. The program is led by experienced speakers who share their personal stories and experiences with addiction, as well as the latest information on drug and alcohol abuse trends and prevention strategies. Through an engaging and interactive presentation, STR8TALK aims to empower young people with the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy choices and avoid the pitfalls of substance abuse. The program covers a wide range of topics, from the physical and emotional effects of drugs and alcohol to the legal consequences of drug-related crimes and includes the impact actions have on family and loved ones.
STR8TALK looks and feels like a concert (big screens with video, live music, lights, fog, etc.). The outcomes we hope to achieve are:
1) Help students understand the consequences of drug and alcohol abuse, by way of a real-life story,
2) Provide tools for your students to prevent entering the world of addiction and the benefits of choosing a drug and alcohol-free lifestyle,
3) Provide tools to understand the signs of a person using drugs and/or alcohol,
4) Inspire students to make the most of their lives and follow their dreams,
5) Break the stigma of addiction and understand judgements and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion,
6) Help students understand the value of self-validation and self-love and making the most of their lives
KCS Communication Plan
We know that staying connected is important. You want to know what is happening in our schools, and we want to make sure you get the right information at the right time.
To make this happen, we are excited to share our new Kingston Community Schools Communication Plan.
Our schools are the heart of this community. When we talk to each other clearly, our students do better. We invite you to look over the new plan.
Thank you for being part of the Kingston family. We look forward to growing together.
Open House and Orientation Days
Our annual Open House for grades 7-12 will be held on Tuesday, August 18th from 4:00-6:00pm at KHS. This is a great opportunity for all families to meet our staff and tour the facility prior to the start of the school year.
Orientations for incoming 7th and 9th grade students and their parents are scheduled for August 14th.
7th Grade (5-6p) will focus on the transition, navigating their class schedules, and getting extra practice time for their locker combinations.
9th grade (6-7p) will focus on graduation requirements and the academic shift from junior to senior high school.
Daily Schedule
When dropping off your child, please be sure they have enough time to get breakfast and get their items for class from the locker prior to the start of first hour.
KHS Handbook
We have updated the Kingston High School (KHS) Student Handbook. This guide helps students and families understand our school rules and expectations. It is important that everyone reviews these updates so we can have a successful and safe school year.
Thank you!
Tech Center Information
We want to make sure our students who attend the Tech Center and Mid-Mich programs are set up for success this year. Please review these important reminders regarding schedules, attendance, and transportation.
Tech Center Schedule and Attendance
Please note that the Tech Center will be closed from August 25 to August 28. However, students are still required to attend their regular classes at KHS during these dates.
This year, we will take turns sending students to the Tech Center on half days. Please mark your calendars for these specific dates:
AM Students will go to the Tech Center on: October 1, December 18, and June 8.
PM Students will go to the Tech Center on: October 22 and March 25.
Exams and Transportation
Attendance is mandatory on exam dates. Tech Center students must attend the Tech Center on scheduled exam days. If a student is not present, it will be counted as an unexcused absence.
Regarding transportation, students are not allowed to drive themselves to the Tech Center. If there is a special reason a student needs to drive, it must be pre-approved by the principal.
Mid-Mich Students
For our Mid-Mich students, if your class is virtual or is not meeting on a specific day, you are required to come to KHS to work on your coursework. Students are not permitted to work from home during school hours. If a student stays home to work, it will be marked as an absence.
We appreciate your help in following these guidelines to ensure every student stays on track.
