Haslett Public Schools is supporting Special Olympics of Michigan. Join our TEAM in supporting our Haslett High School & Middle School Students along with District Staff. Funding is used to support local students.
This one-of-a-kind event is about building school pride and celebrating inclusion. Whether you are cheering from the sidelines or making a donation to the program, you will be making a splash for a great cause.
The event takes place at our own Haslett High School on Friday, February 27, 2026! Watch for more information in school newsletters on how to support our students, staff, and the Special Olympics!
Student Safety Task Force Update
The Student Safety Task Force met for the second time this month to review initial responses from the district-wide safety survey. The task force includes parents, teachers, administrators, emergency responders, and mental health professionals who are working to develop safety recommendations based on community input and current research.
The survey, which asks families, staff, and community members about safety concerns and priorities, remains open through December 16. The district is also planning one-on-one interviews and focus groups to gather more detailed feedback, along with a separate student survey. More information will be shared as scheduling is finalized.
This work is part of the district's Strategic Plan Pillar 2, which focuses on student safety and wellness.
If you haven't completed the survey, please do. It's available through December 16.
Year-End Giving with the Foundation for Haslett Schools
The Foundation thanks everyone who donated to its “Giving Tuesday” campaign over the past two weeks – and for those who haven’t given yet, there’s still time! Thanks to years of generous community support, we provided more than $300,000 to the Class of 2025. Your year-end contribution this month can help fund innovative classroom ideas, expand technology access, and fuel even more student success in 2026. Your support matters –

Haslett Robotics Club - A New Season Begins!
Haslett Robotics Club, proudly serving the Mid-Michigan area, is excited to announce the 2025–26 VEX IQ, V5, and Aerial Drone seasons are officially underway! It is only the beginning and already one of our standout groups, the Minebots — two-time VEX IQ Worlds Championship qualifier — has been invited to compete at the VEX IQ Michigan State Championship this spring. WAY TO GO!
Our club will be hosting the Mid-Michigan VEX IQ/V5 Robotics Tournaments on January 17–18, 2026, at Haslett High School and we’re looking for volunteers for a wide variety of roles that accommodate multiple interests and varying abilities. We ask volunteers be a minimum of 10 years-old. Volunteering is one of the fastest ways to see robotics in action and learn what these competitions are all about. Volunteering at the tournament also counts towards NHS hours. Click on the link below to learn more about volunteer opportunities.
Haslett Robotics Club (HRC) is an independent nonprofit organization offering programs across multiple levels of VEX Robotics: Young Elementary Program, VEX IQ, VEX V5, and Aerial Drones. Students explore the world of designing, building, coding, engineering, and operating robots in a fun and cooperative environment. Learn more about us at https://haslettrobotics.com

Bikes for Books
The Okemos Masonic Lodge is hosting the 11th annual Bikes For Books Program for the 2025-2026 school year elementary age students, grades 3-6 - throughout Okemos and Haslett.
Children participate in the program by reading grade / reading level appropriate books, each time they read a book they log it onto a Bikes for Books entry form. A new form may be completed & submitted for every seven books read. Parents endorse the forms. Completed forms can be returned to teachers and librarians and go into the drawing. In the spring winners’ are drawn by school from the forms submitted. The more they read, the better their chances of earning a bike and safety helmet. Last year, seven elementary schools participated, and 31 bikes and helmets were awarded. This program has successfully established a love for reading early in life and put a gleam of excitement and happiness into kids’ eyes.
