Earlier this week we officially kicked off our annual Fall for Ross fundraising drive! If you're new to Ross or need a refresher, during Fall for Ross, we ask families to help us raise money to directly invest in our school's operating costs and programs.

The PTA spends more than $100,000/year of its funds on school operational expenses each year. This means that every dollar we receive during Fall for Ross contributes to your child's experience, every day. Here are just a few examples of what your donations cover:

  • $25 buys two gallons of hand soap for the school
  • $50 buys one custodian's uniform
  • $100 covers the cost of one teacher's professional development training
  • $300 buys supplies to refresh our playground and garden
  • $600 covers half of the cost of hiring a bus for a school field trip
  • $1,200 buys 3 iPads for Ross classrooms

This year we're aiming to raise $50,000 from Ross families. Last year we raised more than $45,000. We encourage families to consider a financial donation of $50/month ($600 annually) to help the PTA maintain its strong programs and investments in school operating costs. We understand this isn’t possible for every family. Please give as you’re able. Small or large, every donation is important and contributes to improving the learning environment for every student at Ross.

Want to know more about what the PTA does? Here are a few examples:

  • Raises significant funds to offset school operating costs and non-personnel expenses. This enables Principal Searl to increase Ross staffing beyond the school's DCPS budget allocation.
  • Covers any curricular expenses that the school requests.
  • Supports Ross teachers and staff.
  • Ensures that every Ross student can equally participate in field trips and other activities, regardless of their families' financial status.
  • Hosts events to build community.

Our engaged school community is an essential part of what makes the Ross environment such a welcoming, supportive place for our children to learn and grow. We can accept donation matches from companies, so please seek a match if you can and double your impact!

A few days after launching Fall for Ross, we're about 5% of the way to our goal. All classes that reach 100% participation, or the class with the highest participation rate when Fall for Ross ends, will win a popsicle party and an extra recess!

Please consider giving here today.

Thank you!
