Spot Observations Focus - Student Questioning

As we continue through the second quarter of instruction, we remain committed to high expectations for student engagement and learning. Our Matadors are showing us they are ready to be challenged further. One of our goals is for students to explain the “why” behind their thinking during whole-group discussions. Intentional questioning creates opportunities for students to deepen their understanding and engage in higher levels of rigor.

Questioning will be a key focus during classroom observations. Please ensure your guiding questions are written on your exemplars and aligned to the lesson’s learning goals. These questions should prompt students to explain their reasoning and support their responses with evidence. If you have any questions or need support, please feel free to reach out.

26/27 Grade Reporting Calendar

Attendance for Credit - Student Work

We currently have approximately 20 students who need to complete Attendance for Credit hours. All assignments will be housed in the Attendance for Credit Google Classrooms I have created for each content area.

Your task will be to create and upload meaningful assignments for students to complete during these sessions. Assignments may include review activities, current content, or projects that reinforce essential skills and learning goals. Be sure to include clear directions so students can work independently.

I will share the Google Classroom links for each content area this week. Thank you for supporting our students as they complete their required hours and strengthen their understanding of course content.

Career North Field Trip

Our annual eighth-grade trip to Career Institute North will take place on November 19 and 20. Morning tours are scheduled from 10:15–11:30 a.m. Afternoon tours will run from 12:15–1:30 p.m.

Permission forms will be placed in eighth-grade RLA teachers’ mailboxes on Monday, November 2. Please distribute them to students and remind families that completed forms are due by Friday, November 6.

If additional spaces are available for seventh-grade students, I will send a follow-up notification. Thank you for helping our Matadors explore future career opportunities!
