Clinton County Career Fair
The Clinton County Workforce Collaborative and Junior Achievement will host a Career Exploration Fair at Laurel Oaks Career Campus, located at 300 Oak Drive, Wilmington. The goal of the Fair is to provide hands-on and interactive experiences for students while creating awareness of workforce opportunities right here in Clinton County. All 10th and 12th Graders will be attending this event throughout the day on October 22nd.
WHS College Fair
On October 15th, we will host our annual college fair. We will have over 60+ colleges represented in the the high school gym. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors will get to attend during the school day. Teachers will be helping students research and plan for this day.
Cell Phone Policy
To keep students focused and engaged in learning, personal electronic devices (cell phones, smart watches, wireless earbuds, etc.) are not permitted during the school day (7:40 AM–2:30 PM).
Students may use their devices before and after school only. Chromebooks are available for all educational needs during the day.
If a device is seen or used during school hours, it will be confiscated and returned at the end of the day. Repeated violations will result in further consequences.
WHS is not responsible for lost or stolen devices. Parents who need to reach their student should call the main office.
Thank you for supporting a focused, phone-free learning environment!
School Bus Safety Week
During the third full week of October each year, National School Bus Safety Week is a public education campaign designed to promote school bus safety. It is an excellent way for parents, students, teachers, motorists, school bus operators, school administrators, and other interested parties such as law enforcement agencies, to join forces and address the importance of school bus safety.
PSAT Registration
Wilmington High School will be administering the PSAT assessment on October 29th. The test will take place during the school day at the school. The PSAT is available to both Juniors and Sophomores however, we are limited to 30 assessments, so Juniors will receive preference.
Click on the image for more information about this test. The registration form is below, and is also available through your child's English teacher or in the main office. Please register by October 20th.
Closed Lunch Policy
WHS has a closed lunch policy. Below are a few reminders from the student handbook. This information was reviewed with students in class meetings.
Wilmington High School does not have an open lunch policy. Students must remain in the building for lunch.
Outside food should not be delivered or dropped off for any student at the school.
Parents/Guardians are not to call/sign-out students for lunch.
All WCS students are automatically eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch meal at no charge. Please note that the program covers a full breakfast and lunch meal. Extra food or á la carte items will incur a charge.
1st Quarter Report Cards
Report cards are being mailed home on Friday, October 17th. Be looking for these in your mailbox. You will find student grades as well as credit and attendance information. Let the front office know if you do not receive your child's report card. If you have any questions or concerns about 1st quarter grades, please contact your child's teacher.
Attendance Information
Attendance Law Updates
Recent changes to Ohio law (R.C. 3321.16) affect how schools handle attendance and truancy.
Absence intervention plans are no longer required. If a student becomes habitually truant—missing 30+ consecutive hours, 42+ hours in a month, or 72+ hours in a year without excuse— the district will file a truancy complaint in juvenile court.
Regular attendance is essential for student success—thank you for working with us to ensure your child is at school every day and on time!
Medical Notes
For all medical absences, a doctor’s excuse must be provided to the school within forty-eight (48) hours, i.e. two business days, of the student’s return to school or the absence will be unexcused.
Food Pantry
Wilmington High School has a Food Pantry done in partnership with the Free Store Food Bank. Any family with a student attending in the Wilmington City School District is eligible for this program. An interested family simply needs to complete the attached form and send it with their student and someone from the WHS Food Pantry will contact them for additional information!
We hope to curb food insecurity in our great community and continue to grow our students into community leaders!
