SALISBURY COMMUNITY SCHOOL
Weekly Newsletter 1/9/26
Hello and happy Friday!
It’s been a nice first week of 2026 here at SCS. Everyone is a bit tired out, getting back into the routines and rigor of school again (kids and adults alike!). Students have settled in nicely and teachers are easing back into units of study and new learning. I don’t have much to report from this week, except please remind your child(ren) to have all of the necessary outerwear for recess. We have gone through almost all of the borrow items, from coats to snow pants, mittens and boots as well as indoor shoes. Going outside in all types of weather is very important, especially this time of year when colds and flu are everywhere. We want to make sure everyone has the right clothing to be comfortable outside and inside.
Thank you for taking a moment to read the updates below. I also want to make sure you received a separate communication regarding the minor bus accident that occurred Tuesday morning this week. We are so relieved no one was hurt, and yet acknowledge that it was likely scary for the students. Please contact me or your child’s teacher if you have questions or concerns related to this.
This coming Thursday, January 15th, at 6:00 PM there will be a Town Hall meeting at SCS with members of the ACSD School Board. This meeting will be an opportunity for parents/guardians to ask questions, learn more about the budget priorities and projections for the 26-27 school year and find out more about what the school board is working on now and in the months ahead. I hope to see you there!
Thanks for reading and have a great weekend,
Tracey
The Week in Photos
These pictures are from the ice skating trip on December 23rd to the Memorial Ice Rink in Middlebury. Students, staff and many parents had a very fun time.
The kindergarteners shared personal artifacts in their Who We Are museum before the break. Parents and peers visited the displays and asked questions about the special items students brought in.
This week the 4th graders added trout eggs to their fish tank that is specifically set up to incubate and hatch fish eggs.
