On February 29th, 2024 at Lexington Technology Center, an information session will be offered to 10th grade students and parents/guardians to hear about the Michelin Maintenance Early Scholars Program through Michelin North America.

Overview:

  • Students show interest at Lexington 1 CTE Advance STEM Center in 10th grade as sophomores and must be taking or willing to take Engineering Technology (Mechatronics/STEM) specifically at LTC.
  • Interested students fill out packets that will be handed out at the information session and signed and returned one week before the testing session - March 21st, 2024
  • Students test on April 9th with the Tech Scholar Assessment but DO NOT have to be successful to become eligible for MES. This is just to see where they are in their technical reasoning.

Students who turned in packets and tests will then receive invites for interviews from the Lexington Michelin plant based on 5 areas

  1. Maturity
  2. Safety
  3. Team Work/Conflict
  4. Work Experience
  5. Motivation
  • Successful MES Candidates will begin working their Junior year, taking Mechatronics/STEM at LTC and working 9 hours a week at the plant.
  • Senior year the students will work 12 hours.
  • MES will make $14-$16 based on where they are with tenure in the program.
  • This is a direct pathway to the Michelin Technical Scholars Program for college.
  • MES must be 16 years of age and must have their own transportation to and from the plant to school etc., by the beginning of their Junior Fall Semester.
  • To be eligible for consideration for the Michelin Scholars Program, students must pass an aptitude test administered by Michelin officials and interview (senior year) with plant representatives. If chosen, the student begins after graduation.
