News & Updates

Hello CELC & MVLA Families,

Happy Sunday! I hope you all had a great weekend! My daughter had her first volleyball tournament of the new season. With only five practices together, her team took first place! I was so proud of the girls. They worked hard and played very well as a team.

Last week, our kindergarteners had a lot of fun searching for the pesky little gingerbread men cookies that escaped the oven. The campus was full of fun and the smell in the air was DELICIOUS! The holiday spirit will continue this week with more activities and dress up days. We are so excited to welcome our EAK students on campus on January 3rd. Miss Carlisle has been working hard to get the classroom set up.

CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs. Hernandez's homeroom class for being the top fundraiser for the Turkey Trot. The PTA will be scheduling a time to celebrate with a popsicle party. Together, we raised a little over $4,000 total to help support our students. THANK you to the PTA and to everyone that donated! Your generosity is appreciated.

As a reminder, if your child is out on an independent study contract, please check in at the school office to turn in the paperwork when they return to school. Thank you for your support.

The District continues to be guided by California Department of Public Health and our experiences from last year. Thank you for your support while we navigate the 2021-22 school year.

Not only does it create an opportunity to connect, it also supports students' language and communication skills. Follow the sightings on our FB page. Do Good December

Join our AUSD family in utilizing resources at www.actionforhappiness.org. They have monthly themes and ideas to help keep us Happier-Kinder-Together!

This month, Action for Happiness is encouraging people to carry out small acts of kindness. This has been another difficult year of uncertainty and ups and downs for many of us. Kindness is contagious, and helping others has been proven to make us feel better too! Let's try to focus on being generous with our time and attention rather than money - it's free and better for everyone, as well as our planet!

Spirit Days

Mondays College Spirit Day: wear your favorite college shirt

Wednesdays Mid-Week Mindfulness: wear a shirt with a positive message

Fridays School Spirit Day: wear your school shirt or school colors

AUSD is Hiring

If you, or any of your friends/family, love kids and are looking for part time work, please share our postings. We have a couple of positions on our site as well as on other campuses. Please visit https://www.edjoin.org/alpineschools. Please send friendly, qualified candidates our way!

The district would like to increase the number of substitute teachers in our pool. The pay has increased to $200 dollars a day. Please help spread the word. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Mrs. Ripke.
