Keeping our Kauaʻi, Niʻihau & Hawaiʻi Island ʻOhana in our Prayers
Aloha Damien ʻOhana,
As a Damien community, let us continue to pray for the families on Kauaʻi, Niʻihau and Hawaiʻi Island who are rebuilding their homes, lives, and communities after devastating loss. May they find strength, hope, and comfort through the support of family, friends, neighbors, and the wider Hawaiʻi community.
If you are able, please consider reaching out to the American Red Cross or other trusted community organizations to learn how you can support ongoing recovery efforts. Mahalo for continuing to care for and stand with our Hawaiʻi ʻohana. May God bless those who are rebuilding and all those who are helping them along the way.
Over the past few weeks, our own Damien community has experienced several severe weather events that have affected our ʻohana and school operations. These experiences have reminded us of the importance of being prepared, staying connected, and communicating clearly when unexpected situations arise.
We’d appreciate your help as we continue to improve. Please take a moment to complete our Emergency Response SURVEY by Wednesday at 4pm and share your experience with us. Your feedback will help us understand what worked well, where we can do better, and how we can strengthen our communication and response in the future. As of this morning, we have received over 100 responses - THANK YOU!
Live Jesus in Our Hearts...Forever!

Indigenous Well-Being Visits Luluku
Mālama ʻĀina: Our Kuleana to Care for God’s Creation and One Another
At Damien Memorial School, Mālama ʻĀina can be more than environmental stewardship. It can be a way of forming students to recognize their responsibility to care for God’s creation, our community, and one another.
Kumu Akionaʻs Indigenous Well-Being Class has partnered with Mark Strand and ʻĀina Momona to learn about kalo (taro) cultivation and harvesting at Luluku in Windward Oʻahu. The class will be visiting Luluku over the next few months and will bring their ʻike (knowledge) back to re-establish a loʻi (taro patch) at Damien. Mahalo for displaying stewardship, service, and aloha through this community project!

Cross Country Team Service
Mahalo Cross Country!
We had a very successful Team Community Service Cleanup around our school campus and along several of our running routes in the Kalihi neighborhood on Friday. Team Community Service Clean Up Photos_9/11/26
Our athletes collected a significant amount of trash. Some of the bags had already been thrown away by the time we took our team photo, so the picture doesn’t show everything that was collected! More pictures from that day will be shared once I receive them from all of the athletes. It's a shared Google Drive folder, so it will automatically update as new photos are added.
