Mission Statement: Providing a safe, inspiring, and challenging learning environment.
A Message from Our Principal, Mrs. Guillory:
Fall is here—and it’s full of amazing things to enjoy and celebrate! The air feels crisp, the leaves turn brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold, and it’s the perfect time to cozy up with a good book or enjoy outdoor fun before winter arrives. Fall brings exciting traditions like football games, fall festivals, and pumpkin everything—from carving to pie! It’s also a season of change and reflection. Just like the trees let go of their leaves, we can let go of worries and focus on growing, learning, and being kind to one another. Whether you're jumping into a pile of leaves, sipping hot cocoa, or working hard in class, fall reminds us to appreciate the beauty around us and the people we share it with. So take a deep breath of that fresh fall air and enjoy all the little moments that make this season so special!
Happy Fall, everyone! 🍂
CPSB Middle School Principal of the Year, Mrs. Angela Guillory
We are very proud to share the news that our very own Moss Bluff Middle School Principal, Mrs. Angela Guillory, has been named as Calcasieu Parish School Board's Middle School Principal of the Year!
"With two decades of service in Calcasieu Parish schools, Mrs. Angela Guillory has dedicated her career to middle school education. She has taught social studies, led enrichment programs in jazz dance, and coached cheerleading for 12 years before moving into leadership roles as curriculum coordinator, dean of students, and assistant principal. Now in her role as principal of Moss Bluff Middle School, Mrs. Guillory continues to make a meaningful impact on students, staff, and the broader community, leading with energy, empathy, and a true love for education."
"Strong schools are built on strong leadership," said Superintendent Dr. Jason VanMetre. "Our principals inspire students, empower teachers, and shape the culture of our schools. Their vision and commitment are at the heart of our success as a district. We are proud to celebrate our outstanding leaders who embody what it means to selflessly serve our students, teachers, and staff."
There's an App for That!
There is a new App that can and will be used throughout the Parish to report things anonymously from your phone, iPad, or computer-The Close Watch App.
Brief Overview: A complaint is received by CPSO and law enforcement will check out the complaint to make sure it is legitimate and will then move forward.
Crimes and thefts can be reported, either in school or out, and it can prevent mass casualty incidents with just a few key strokes.
See something, say something, it’s right at your fingertips!
It's in the App Store called Calcasieu Close Watch.
*Remember, if you see or hear something, REPORT IT to a MBMS admin or a faculty/staff member IMMEDIATELY!*

What is the biggest challenge you faced as a teacher?
“One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced as a teacher is finding balance—between life, school, family, and the relationships I build with my students. Every student brings a unique personality and set of needs, and I strive to support each one in a meaningful way. It’s a constant juggling act, but it’s also what makes teaching so rewarding.”
How long have you been a teacher?
"18 years - spent my first 16 years teaching elementary math and moved to middle school last year.”
What does being named MBMS' Teacher of the Year mean to you?
”Being named Teacher of the Year is an incredible honor. I absolutely love what I do, and showing up each day—not only for my students but also for my fellow staff—is a privilege I never take for granted. Each day, I feel blessed to play a small role in my students’ journeys. But teaching is more than just being present—it’s about building meaningful relationships and making connections that help students discover their strengths. I always hope that my students learn as much from me as I learn from them. What we do as educators is truly a team effort. It takes all of us supporting one another, collaborating, and celebrating every win—no matter how small. This recognition isn’t just about me; it’s about the amazing colleagues I work alongside who inspire me, challenge me, and help me grow every single day.”
Why does this title matter to you?
"Being named MBMS Teacher of the Year is truly humbling. From the very first day, the Bronco Family welcomed me with open arms, offering support, encouragement, and a sense of belonging. I’ve felt like part of the team since day one, and I couldn’t ask for a better group of educators to work alongside. This honor reflects the strength of the incredible people I get to learn from and grow with every day.”
What is your favorite thing that you look forward to each year and why?
"One of the things I look forward to most each year is meeting my new students. Every group brings its own energy, personality, and unique set of challenges—and that’s what makes teaching so exciting and rewarding.----- ” Each new class is a fresh opportunity to build relationships, discover new strengths, and grow together. I love the process of learning who my students are, what motivates them, and how I can support them in becoming confident, capable learners.”
What do you hope to achieve as a teacher?
“As a teacher, my greatest hope is to help students discover their strengths, believe in themselves, and feel empowered to pursue their goals—both inside and outside the classroom. I want every student to know they are capable, valued, and supported.----- I also aim to be a positive presence for my colleagues, contributing to a culture of collaboration, encouragement, and shared success. Teaching is a team effort, and I believe that when we lift each other up, we all thrive.”
Are you anxious about each year with new kids or a clean slate?
"I’m always a little anxious—but also incredibly excited—at the start of each school year. Meeting new students means facing new challenges, and with those challenges come fresh ideas, curiosity, and opportunities for growth. Each group is different, and that pushes me to be better than I was the year before—or even the day before.-----That mix of nerves and excitement reminds me that teaching is never dull. It’s a journey of constant learning, adapting, and connecting. And that’s what makes it so rewarding.”
A Talk with our DISTRICT Support Person of the Year, Mrs. Latasha Traylor
What is the biggest challenge you face as the Cafeteria Manager?
“The biggest challenge that I face as a cafeteria manager is making sure that I order enough food to feed the kids. It can be a challenge because you never know about the weather and if they are going to eat certain things.”
How long have you been a Cafeteria Manager?
“This is my 5th year as a cafeteria manager.”
What does being named Support Person of the Year mean to you?
“Being named support person of the year is a huge blessing to me. It's a blessing because it lets me know that I am seen and that I have a positive impact on my peers. It lets me know that I'm heading in the right direction in my career.”
Why does this title matter to you?
“It matters to me because I try to make everyone feel loved, fed, and happy. I try every day to be a better version of myself that I was the day before.
What is your favorite thing that you look forward to each year and why?
“My favorite thing to look forward to each year is seeing the kids. I love seeing the new faces and old faces. I love the good mornings and Hey Mrs. Tasha!! I love to see their smiles every day.”
What do you hope to achieve as a cafeteria manager?
“As a cafeteria manager, I hope to be the best leader that I can be. I hope that the kids try new things and enjoy eating in the cafeteria. I aim to put a smile on their faces every day.”
Are you anxious about each year with new kids or changes in menus that may happen suddenly?
“I actually look forward to seeing new kids. They are so amazed at how different it is at the middle school than at the elementary. The new menus, I love them because the kids get to try new foods to eat and a variety of different foods.”
What is your favorite meal of the CPSB menu?
“My favorite meal of the menu is the Cajun pasta.”

Interview with MBMS Jr. Beta President, Gunnar Guy
What do you think is the most important part about Beta?
I think that the most important part about Beta is the service because we go from cleaning school campuses to doing food drives and donating items for the homeless.
How has Beta benefited you as president or as a member in general?
Beta benefited me by making me a better version of myself and encouraging me to do the right thing.
How did you get the courage to join Beta? Overall be the President?
I got the courage to join Beta because my sisters did it and they enjoyed it a lot so I went ahead and joined it. Overall being the president, I like talking a lot and talking to people, so it caused me to just go for it.
What do you recommend for kids starting Beta?
I recommend that if you want to join, then go for it! I met the most amazing and supportive people in this club. It's a wonderful experience too!
